This is the foruth installment of the monthly photo contest on NAM. We're trying to encourage members to go out and shoot *new* photos for the contest.
Follow this link for the: Rules & Submission instructions. Only photos submitted to the contest gallery will be entered into the contest. Do not post your photos to this thread.
This Month's topic :: Sunrise or Sunset
Interpret that how you will, keeping in mind that the photos must be MINI related and that only one photo per member per month may be submitted.
Alta MINI Performance will be donating a MINI Cooper Die Cast Model to the winner of the April photo contest.
Ooohhh it's so tempting to post something I shot about a week ago but I'm going to see if I can't shoot a new one (trying to play by the rules ) not to mention it has (ever so slightly ) been photoshopped and after last months big ole discussion on the topic I wouldn't want to be left out because of it...even though it's a damn good photo and I think has high potential for a win ...I will refrain, unless of course I fail miserably at the new photo, then you're all doomed. Muwah ha ha ha!
Next thing you know people are going to not allow us to enter cause of where we live...saying we have an unfair advantage due to the great sunsets we have here...LOL
lol tuls...try living here in april ! its april showers and clouds everywhere :(
i may try a pic in this contest ;)
Then you can enter your mini in a wet bonnett contest!
the rain could make for some very cool photos...say a nice night shot with the car under the light of a lamp post so you can capture the rain coming down. If I had rain I would most deffinately take adventage of it...and yas you should enter a shot
PS
I am trying very hard not to make any "perky headlights" comments
Can anyone tell the difference between sunset, and sunrise.Oh I guess I can make it a prairie shot not a lake shotWell unless I motor over to the other side of the lake, about 100 miles,or go to the next lake over,60 miles west of here:smile:
Mind you the fields are covered in water right now, hmmm.
I have a great idea for a location, but I don't think it gets decent light during a sunset, however I think the sunrises there would be great... Course then there's the issue of getting up that early to get there...
The timing of this contest was perfect, I KNEW exactly when and where I would take the photo that would WIN this month!
Heck, I even managed to haul my butt out of bed at o'dark thirty (well ok o'dark fourty five) to drive all the way downtown to take THE WINNING PHOTO!
Just imagine it... MINI, cherry blossoms, pristine monuments sunrise and crystal clear morning, the contest should have been OVER!
Trouble was, about 15 THOUSAND other people had the same idea... 6:30 in the morning and Potomac Park is PACKED! Not a photo worthy parking space within a mile of any worthwhile views...
I did happen to drive past a BRG/W in THE PERFECT spot, but by the time I had parked and trekked all the way back to where the MINI was... it was gone...
is it me...or is the dead line on the 25th? get out there and take this winning photo my friend...let's see it....and see if it's all it's cracked up to be...

Trouble is, the blossoms are in peak now, they'll be gone by next weekend.
Plus, it looks like the only way I'll be able to stake out a usable spot is to get there around 3 AM. I don't want to win THAT much!
Then there's the fact that I'd have to get into the city on a weekday and get home in time for my wife to leave for work so I can take care of our son.
I did however manage to get some fantastic photos, just none with the MINI in them.
If you haven't been to Washington DC to see the cherry blossoms in bloom you're missing one of the more spectacular scenes that nature and man puts on. I was pretty sceptical myself until I went down there for the first time.

You ought to see the cherry blossoms in Japan with Mt Fujii as the backdrop, then!
Yeah, buddy! I'd go back in a heartbeat. I was stationed at Misawa (near the shipping town of Hachinohe about 400 miles north of Tokyo) from 1985-1989 and loved it over there.
It'd have been awesome to have a MINI over there back then.
This is so much fun going out morning and night, taking shots. Its warmAs I sit here looking out the window, after just getting back from taking some shots, and the sky is wild with colour, must go out again
Glad the weather is better for you for this month's subject lot. Sorry about the night (snow) one.
I went out yesterday and shot some stuff, but the sky was so clear it was hard to get anything interesting. Oh well, there's more time let for more attempts.
