1 pic, hundreds of (insect) fatalities

Motoring back from the Anza Borrego Desert yesterday, and stopped to snap a pick of the MINI as the sun went down.

Sadly, there was much carnage as I motored home through some sort of massive insect family's reunion:

Pics were taken with my Canon EOS 10D with 28-135 IS lens, for those of you keeping score at home.

Thanks for looking!

The ones that didn't embed themselves into the paint were gently washed away. There were so many of them, it actually stunk when I washed them off - kind of a fishy smell, and definitely gross.

My windshield was covered with them, too. It sounded like driving in the rain for a while. I stopped at the first gas station in Ramona to squeegee them off, so no pics of that carnage.

(Blacknblue - "pepper" white indeed - very funny!)

Raise the bonnet on the pepper white MCS...

and I'll bet you'll find another batch of insects embedded in your intercooler! The insects on the grille kind of look like bugs between your teeth, while the bugs on the intercooler look like they're in your nostril! Sorry, couldn't resist!

The attached photo was taken after driving my brand new MCS from Kansas City to Denver last summer during the night time.

I had one fly stuck in there, but I think the others were too small to get captured in it.

And that would be the ickiest con to driving what is basically a brick with wheels. I swear I'm still pulling grasshopper carcasses (carci?) out of my intercooler from my summer '03 XC road trip...
