Here's a short video--12:32 Minutes of the Hoover Dam Video. You will WANT to spend the time downloading this video. The middle section is priceless!!!
In order to condense the time, without losing the action, I sped up all the driving footage by over 300%. So no, we really didn't go swerving in and out of traffic at crazy speeds . As a result of this speeding up, the audio isn't entirely in sync, so you'll understand why my car has slowed down, but my intake is still screaming!
Secondly, I didn't have the time to process this version like I normally would--to lighten it up and do color correction. Just the output to a WMV file took 4.5 hours.
Finally, ignore the Property details of the WMV file. I used the same compression settings and template from my LB Poker Rally video, and I forgot to reset them for this video--so this truly IS the Dam Run and not the LB Poker Rally Video.
Hahahahaahah. Yeah I've been bad. Btw, I just pulled the clip down. I'm going to do some corrections on it and repost it as a higher quality clip tomorrow--especially after the server maintenance tonight.
Sorry folks! I wasn't 100% happy with this one.

Loved all the brooommm broooommm noises too - you have to play this for Lukas!!!!!!!!
(now I see why you haven't been finding your receipts - you are spending all your time playing with your video footage!)
Heh heh, like I said in Post #5, I pulled the file down temporarily. After viewing it a few times, and getting some feedback, I realized I better not be lazy about it, and finish it up. So that's what I'm doing now. I will upload it again tomorrow and let you know.
You could try my Dual G5 2.5 with FCP HD... may speed things up a bit, plus if you use Sorenson Squeeze it would out put in WMV/ QT/ RM/ MPEG 4, All at the same time!!!!!
I want one of your cameras.... Are you the one who is makeing them? can they be modified to use a Mini DV Cam as well as the Smaller CAM?
I've got a lowly 1.5GHz PC with about a TB of storage and 512MB RAM. I output the file directly from the timeline--there are speed changes, keyframed color corrections to process. I'm sure I could have
sped things up if I flattened the project first, then used that as the source to convert to WMV, but I was lazy.
Thanks for the tip on Sorenson Squeeze. I just downloaded the Trial. Do you have the suite or just the MP4 version?
Yep, I'm the one that's making them. I'm not sure I understand your question.
Are you asking whether you can use the same MINIDV cam that's used for recording along with the VacuCams
as another video source?
The answer would be no because the MINIDV camcorder needs to be in VTR mode in order to record from an
external source. The only way you would be able to do this would be to use a laptop for recording, and
simply feed the camcorder into the switcher as another video source. You would also need a portable
Analogy to Digital converter box.
Let me know if that answers your question or not.

Processed my edits last night while I slept, and just finished some final touchups. Outputting WMV file now, and if all goes well, I will have the new file up before I gotta leave for the day, which is 1 hour!
StormCooper---Sorenson Squeeze looks good! The trial though is of the $500 version which I can't afford. Do you know if the MP4 version will still output WMV?? It doesn't look like it. Thanks!
For those who need QT, I'm uploading a version now. Unfortunately, it encoded 20MB larger than the WMV version--using High Bandwidth DSL as the template.
I'll see if I can tweak it down a bit, but it's currently at 19% uploaded.
Thanks, they are coming!! The Poker Rally video is cool for the Las Vegas scenery. The Strip Video is cool just to see so many cars!! But it's dark and not all that great if you weren't there. LOL.
They will be posted next week, or earlier if I get the chance.

Sorenson is Great however it is very $$$ Pricey... You must get the whole version to have the MP4 and the WMV, but rather than compressing each individually you hit them at the same time, on my G5 Dual I compressed THe Lord of the Rings to 3gpp variant of MP4, for my cell Phone and also Quicktime stream at the same time. It took 5.35 Hours to do both of them.
My question on the VACCAM was could you actually put your DV camera on the Mount?...
I have thought about either that or using a firewire Mini-Cam, to my laptop and capture direct. I have another Application I use for Stop-motion Animation called Boinx iStopMotion. It would allow me to pre-program the time intervals for a stop motion time sequence. Either Way I want to get one as soon as I can. As far as sorenson the only reason I have it is because I run the Digital Labs for my Alma Mater "Brooks Institute of Photography" and we use it there. It is great but expensive. Cleaner XL will also work very Well, but it is 560$. You may try going to journeyed.com they sell at educational Prices. Can't wait till I get some cash together and can start filming!!!!
I wouldn't put a full size camcorder on the VacuCam mount. You could, and people have done it, but I wouldn't. The beauty of the VacuCams are in their super lightweight low mass cameras. Attach this rigidly to your car or using the VacuCam mounts and the video is rock steady, and your camera is safe and sound inside your car away from rocks, water, and bugs!
There was a guy who posted video clips of still shots taken with his laptop on a roadtrip. It was pretty effective, but once I told him about my VacuCams, he was ready to dump it in favor of capturing video instead of stills.
Thanks for the tips on Sorenson and Cleaner.
