Welcome to the D-SLR Money Pit! You're going to love it!

I have been a happy D70 user for a little over a month now. I wish I had a 2 GB card, but that's going to have to wait for now.

I have a D70 and my father has the D100... They are both great cameras.. very user friendly. I love it... Once it arrives, take some shots and post them up here!!! I love seeing photos that other photographers (pro or not)...

Enjoy!

PS 2GB card... that rocks!! I wish I had one!!

Yeah, I decided to go for the 2GB card and hold off on other stuff (mainly a second lens, which I'm sure I'll fold and buy soon enough anyway). And I figure with the autocross season winding down I need something else to spend all my money on. I already need to go out and buy a bag and tripod now... another couple hundred, plus I could use a set of filters, and the built in flash could surely use an upgrade, plus that telephoto lens, and software, and printing... AHH! I can see this is going to get ugly fast.

It goes fast... What kind of tripod are you thinking about getting? I have been using my old Bogen.. Its really beat up, about 15 years old and I think its been handed down a few times as well. I would be interested in picking up another one soon... I guess I would stick with Bogen just because this has taken such a beating and it still looks fairly good.

I'm going to get a Bogen 3221 with a ball head.

If you haven't done so already, check out the Tripod Advice thread I started.

Just got it! In about a half hour of fiddling (without reading the book ) I think I've got a pretty good handle on how to adjust everything... certainly a very intuitive and easy set of controls!

I'm going to head out in a little while and try to get some night time pictures with it, since its dark. Then later tonight I'll sit down and read the whole book. Ahh, its good to finally have it.

Kyle (and any other D70 users)

Adorama has the ML-L3 Remote Shutter Release for the D70 in stock. It's been a hard item to find, so if you think you might be doing night photography I'd recommend it (it'll make bulb mode a little easier than the penny/rubber band trick). My remote should show up here on Friday.

Post some pics of the new camera Kyle.

Dave

Pictures with the new camera? Well... I just so happen to have a few I just took!

I just walked around campus and think I got a few good ones... this is at Georgia Tech if anybody is wondering. Speaking of night photography...

Man I love this shot... in the full res version the moire effect on the tower isn't visible.

The blue lights at the top of the posts change color so in some of my other shots they're pink and yellow.

Not as big of a fan of this one... but I think it turned out decent.

In the running for my favorite (with the first one).

For taking these all about 4 hours after I got the camera I don't think I did too bad.

What do you all think?

BAH! Everyone keeps telling me about that shadow... I did it on purpose. Well, more than did it on purpose, I noticed it and didn't mind so I moved it so it lined up decently in the shot and stepped out. Apparently it doesn't have the artistic touch I thought it did. If I didn't notice don't you think I'd be in there somewhere too?

It didn't even strike me as odd. I have just taken to walking away from my camera while the self timer is taking night shots. Good point though.
