I think we all fell in the same category, stumped on what to do. Congrats to the ones who came up with something. I really wanted to but summer school was wrapping up and I hardly had time to think. Looking forward to contribute to next months contest. I hope its something to draw lots of entries.

That third pic is pretty nice. I would've cropped it a bit tighter above the MINI, but, for the most part, it makes good use of negative space.

I'd like some info on the strobist setup for #3 after it wins, lol. I don't think it would have worked as well with any color other than white.

My guess would be the light source was camera right, a few feet higher than MINI's roofline. Based on the feathering, I doubt full power was used.

Yes, it seemed like an easy topic until you tried to do something with it, didn't it?! Good, thoughtful work in 1 2 & 4 but 3 was really nice I thought - weird how the car looks almost matt though

It could be Vic's MINI

Now that's a surprise! Is it actually matt, or some sort of mica paint? Certainly looks distinctive.

Great job Jason, it looks great. I'd agree with Juan's suggestion of a crop, but still great execution!

I Love the winning shot...and IMHO, no crop is really needed. The placement is pretty much in its "rule of 3rd's" and seems more interesting in the larger black void than it would be with less blackness. Wow, that sounded deep.
Very good rendition of the topic Bravo!

I thought I had a reasonable shot, but just blew mine away. I should have voted for it as well.

I'd be interested in knowing the techniques behind it.
