With only 3 entries, I should have made more of an effort.

I enjoyed all 3. Number 3 gave me a good laugh and 2 is just a great concept which I really liked. But I think 1 is a superb photo - the coloring, the narrow depth of focus and the composition with both the dog and MINI looking the same direction (thinks: that wouldn't have worked so well with an R56...). A great job with a tough topic - congratulations all!!
A perfect example of quality instead of quantity. Even with only 3 choices, I'm going to have a hard time choosing as they're all outstanding!
And Scott, I hate you (in a very envious good way) and your lighting techniques.

For every ounce of gas saved by a Toyota Pious, a gallon is wasted by the 20 cars behind it desperately attempting to pass because the typical Pious is driven by what appears to be a stoned, nearsighted geriatric who's also lost and confused and allergic to g-forces higher than .01 just to gain an extra 2 MPG. (paraphrased)
I'm sure you'll find it was meant to be that way. It makes the dog stand out more (otherwise, grey-on-grey).
I agree. I had a difficult time with my choice.
For those who have not voted, please note, I did not say which photo I voted for by agreeing with the statement.
Wow, only 3! Wish my bird hadn't freaked out every time I went into the garage! They do that ,Birds!
#1:Got my vote
...because of its superb quality. The topic "Pets" was carried out to perfection. The eye goes directly to the dogs eyes, then the car, then the background and overall image. Someone had commented on the Mini being "blurry" like its a bad thing. That is what draws your attention to the subject. Depth of field is a powerful thing, and was exactly the right choice for this image. And the location and lighting were dead on too~
This shot is professional...IMHO
#2: Funny and querky but thats about it. The eye is drawn to the houses in the back ground. Not really good for the shot. Maybe a better location would have helped. I was taught long ago that "every single thing in the image matters, so make it matter or lose it".
Kudos on the dog cooperating, give him a bisquit
#3: Not much to it. The pix posted in this thread with the dogs and camera were really fun. But I hear working with animals can be hard work, so THANX to the 3 entries that made it this month.
Thank you to everyone with the nice comments on my photo. I shot #1 and my trusty sidekick was my pup Sherman. You are correct about the purpose of the blurry car. It was an attempt to bring the focus more on Sherman rather the car. Congrats to the winner. It was a tough month and you did a great job with the topic.
Thanks you two! Sherman and I really do appreciate it. He loves getting in front of the camera. In fact, I used to bring him along whenever I went to take pictures. Unfortunately I had to stop because he would always lay right in front of the car so the focus was on him.
I wanna see the pictures. :( They don't show up on my screen. :(
