Do I need AV in on a camcorder?

So I have been eyeing a JVC harddrive camera and bought one from Bestbuy at their Friday deals. It turns out that its the model just below the one with the AV input. It was only $299 regularly $400-450... I can get the next model up which adds the AV input from Sams Club website shipped for $350 plus $6 shipping. should I get the one with the inputs?

Thanks,
k

I decided I need the av input... Returned the bestbuy unit and bought the model up online for less than bestbuy's blackfriday price.

Are you sure you you are not talking about an A/V output? The only reason you would need an input is to hook up a separate microphone or video device to your camera. The output enables you to hook up RCA cables to a monitor or t.v. so you can view the video.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I own a small video production company in NM...FIRE IT UP VIDEO!

Thanks for the post. I just checked. It is AV in and out. The in is what i want because i want to get a bullet camera and external mic to use for autocross and track days.

If you want to use it for in car video, a hard drive camcorder isn't the best idea, they're not very vibration or shock resistant. I got one which uses memory cards for in car video.
