Must start off with the Mini

I shoot a Pentax K10D with 2 Pentax and 3 Tamron lenses.
Been shooting digital for almost 2 years, so I'm still a novice but shooting film since 1977.....wow, thats old. I have a home darkroom and also do alot of other forms of artsy fartsy stuff~

Alright, I am going to post some shots I took with my K1000.
These are old shots, about 10 years old. I haven't shot much recently since I no longer have use of a darkroom- which is why I'm now looking into getting the K20D. I've been fighting to stay with film because I just love the look, but I think I'm finally giving in to this whole "digital" mess.

Anyways, here they are. Please excuse all the scratches, smudges, and spots, I scanned them as they were and didn't bother with any retouching.

This next one is in color, so I didn't have the honor of being as hands on with it-

OH WOW RELHIEH! The portrait shot lends itself to an old classic Hollywood Hurrell and profile shot is stunning. I can't wait to see more.
Wonderful B&W work girl~

I have fought the digital thing too and even took a major stand against it. I had to eat crow. I love working with chemicals and that splendid moment when the print is placed in the developer and comes alive. I even like the smell of Stop Bath.
The main reason I got a digital was because I had grown more and more dissatisfied with how poorly the labs process film now. The film is shipped to a Fugi plant in TN or Birmingham that just feeds the film in C41 machine, never checking for quality. Mass producing = bad processing.
Also I am a good 45 miles from a decent professional lab (for color that is, since I do my own B&W) So I broke down and made the switch. Had to learn a "whole new science" but its still the same photography formula.

You will love the Pentax. When do you plan on getting one?

Thank you. I'm even blushing a bit.

Haha, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who liked the smells of a darkroom! When I went into the darkroom it was like I was in my own world; my little bit of heaven. Man do I miss it.

That's the same reason why I haven't shot anything in so long. I had a roll or two destroyed by those stupid machines (or the stupid people working them), so I said 'never again'. If I can't do it myself, I just won't do it.

Hopefully by next week! Seeing this forum and the beautiful photography made me realize just how much I miss being behind a camera. I've been out of touch for too long, and I feel like I really need to get back in the swing of things. And I don't want to waste any more time than I already have!

Well you obviously have an eye for it. Just like riding a bike, you never loose it. Once you get the hang of your new "ride" you will absolutely soar~
My camera bag is always by my side cause life is passing right in front of us.
Soon~ PB

Thanx much~ I was cleaning up the dishes when I realized they had already gone back to our bathroom, so I dashed to get my camera and was only able to get this just before he was done.
I wanted the "full white foamy face" look but will settle for this one~

Zebras? in Alabama? Who knew?!

How do you like your Tamron lens? I just put in the order for my K20D (YAY!!) and I almost got one of those (a 70-300, not a 30-700, lol) but I chose the Pentax 18-250 instead.

YIPPIE!!! CongratulationsWhen do you expect to get it?

Yep, how about that? About a dozen Zebra and 4 or so Buffelo share a pasture. Strangest sight to see.

Oh, I feel like a doof, its a 70-300, I wasn't paying attention, but you got it anyway and I also have a 28-80 Aspherical Tamron. My Pentax came with excellent lens but I wanted a little more to choose from. The Tamron focus is really fast, something you'll love with the 15 point focusing on your 20D. No matter, you can't go wrong with either lens, both quality.

I have several Sigma lenses with my old Canon film camera and the were just as good as the Canon lenses to me.

Happy Shooting

Thanks for the info.

I should have it in about 3 days- by the 8th. I'm so excited! I'm trying not to go overboard in buying lenses so I've convinced myself to wait until the K20D comes and see if any of my current lenses will work with it. Then, depending on that outcome, go from there. However, since I only have a few prime lenses, I'll definitely be doing more research into zooms. Any suggestions? Would you (or anyone) recommend any particular fixed length or zoom lenses?

Oh my goodness, you are at Otis?? Otis College of Art and Design right by LAX? I almost went there! No bs!! I almost got a full scholarship there. It was between me and another gentleman- and he was chosen because he was (mediocre) in "a lot of different mediums", and I solely concentrated on photography. To make it even worse, he didn't even go because his girlfriend got pregnant and he needed to get a job instead of go to school. Talk about drama, lol! But, anyways, before all that I did have a few pieces of my work displayed in the gallery there. Ahh, such good times. Wow, you've brought back memories!

Yup the same one! that's pretty cool, where did you end up going? oh and talk about drama, some guy would've had a full scholarship there if he just went through the summer of art program, and lost it cause he messed up and got drunk on a Paris Trip that OTIS took, so sad. and his family wasnt very rich so his parents and grandparents gathered up what they could to put him there. what a waste
