Tripod! A small simple, easy, and inexpensive one that's build for pros can be found here. Fence posts, trash cans, trees, etc. can be used to get a higher elevation with this tripod. I carry mine all the time since it's so small.
Use the camera's self timer mode to avoid getting camera shake while pressing the shutter release button.
