Iowa MINI group anyone?

Anyone else interested in getting an Iowa or Eastern Iowa MINI group going?

Not sure if a group for the whole state would be best, or to make it an Eastern Iowa group, since it seems like those who motor in Western Iowa would lean towards Eastern Nebraska if the rumored Omaha dealership is true. Anyhow, please chime in if interested.

There is kinda of an informal Iowa MINI group based in yahoo groups. However, if you would like to put something together that is a little more formal, I would be willing to jump in. Where are you at in Iowa? I'm over in Sioux City.

YES! There is an Iowa group!

Yes, we do have a MINI Cooper group in Iowa. It is informal and does not have a charter, elected officers, or any of that stuff -- but it is a FUN group of people!

I'm one of the coordinators (along with Daryl in Cedar Rapids).

We have an annual fall cruise every October exploring a different part of Iowa. For 2006 we are heading up thru the Loess Hills to Sioux City. All MINI owners are invited to join us -- even if you just happen to be passing thru. Right now we are deciding between Oct 14 and Oct 21 -- hope to have a decision soon.

Enroll on our Yahoo group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/minicooperiowa/

Right now we have 65 members on the Yahoo group! So we ain't just small potatoes!

We also hang around a lot with the British Car Club of Iowa (BCCI) and participate in their events. Check them out at: http://www.ric-johnson.com/iowabrit/index.htm

My wife and I are moving back to our home state of Iowa in six weeks (after 12 years of suburban/urban hell in northern VA and hours of my life wasted away sitting in stop-and-go traffic on the capital beltway).

I'd certainly be interested in any eastern IA organized events. I guess Decorah is close enough to leverage the southern MN group, but it somehow seems sacrilegious...

We'd have come up with a name and an event

My wife and I always go the British car fest in the Village of East Davenport. Its in late August and could be an event for the newly founded group. We could be named the East Iowa MINI Owners Group. EIMOG

Used to be Labor Day weekend but now it seems to be getting earlier and earlier. It was the second weekend of August this year.

hey guys!

good to see that there is indeed a group of mini enthusiasts in Iowa. I think our group would love to someday have joint events with you guys!

I'd love to have a mini myself, but need a larger vehicle for the family.

I'm from Ankeny, just north of Des Moines and drive (don't shoot! ;) ) a wrx and a jetta wagon 1.8t.

One question, do you guys consider yourselves part of the european car family (with the ties to bmw) or more with the british cars?

Isn't that the truth, not quite British not quite German, not quite anything. That's what makes a MINI so sweet, we can call anywhere home
