Looks pretty good to me. They also sell a flatter plastic cover so it doesnt show up so much. But I doubt you need a cover on the back plate. I do have a simple one on my front plate. Lots of bugs in Maine.

The plate frame looks good. I am the same way we just did some hand painted personalization on Wilma and no one can see the defects I see plus I am on my third time wet sanding and painting her trim to fix defects that no one else notices.. I hate being a perfectionist
