Mini Names

Hey guys, finally found my way here after the meet & greet! Website looks great! Nice pictures, Shaun & Jen.

So my '07 spent last week up in Jonesboro fixing the gas guage and hatchback. Apparently some wires came loose and grounded themselves when they shouldn't have been. It's all solved now, but i spent the week driving around in a Sparkling Silver Cooper loaner with the Uncomfortably Hard Leather Seats (U.H.L.S.) Package and the Decreased Performance From Only Using Regular Gas (D.P.O.U.R.G.) Package. The clutch and shifter were both rigid and made noises, the stereo had 5 speakers too few, and it wasn't at all Me-ified. Suffice it to say, I missed my baby.

Anyway, so Friday, i drove back up and picked my freshly washed, all-better Laser Blue & White God's-gift-to-roads back up from the dealership and on the way home i decided that it was time i came up with a name for it. I started thinking of girl's names first, and if my car had been a Mellow Yellow or Chili Red or something like that, then i probably would have been sold on giving the car a girl's name in the tradition of ship-naming. But nothing Laser Blue should ever be addressed as "Katie" or "Jessica" or "Laura", so then i thought briefly about dog names, but as i hit the gas pedal to see how fast i could get from 60-90 mph, i decided that i needed to find a horse's name to give my car. I passed every car on I-75 that day, to let my MINI know i had missed it, and in doing so, decided that my car should be named Secretariat, in honor of one of the greatest racehorses ever. Just for fun, while writing this post, i decided to look up the colors of Secretariat's racing silks, and as if by fate, it turns out that they exactly match the color of my car! (Check it out: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._1977_20985644 ) So now i need to find a way to put that on the back of my car somehow... probably either the bumper or the top of the hatch, and i really want to find some Laser Blue checkerboard pattern that i can put over my roof.

So anyway, that's my MINI's name. What's yours and how did you come up with it? Also, if anyone knows a place that does those kinds of custom graphics and has access to real MINI Laser Blue paint, pass that on, too, please.

Mike.

Hi Mike, I was at the BYB also[06MCS DS/B with the santa on the dash].
Hope that,s your last trip to So. Atlanta for any problems. I like your name,
very creative. Check with MIKE at Aesthetic Creations, he can make up about anything you can think up when it comes to graphics. Very good to work with. Hope to see you at the Jan. meet. My car's name is "Snert" after the little dog in the cartoon "Hager the Horrible".

What's in a Name?

Great name Mike, I think it goes well with your MINI, being your beloved and trusty steed!

I named my MINI Cassie. Being partly Irish, and that my MINI seems to have that indipendent, sassyness about her I thought it was a fitting name. Though lately having donned the Dallas Cowboys apparel I think "Roger" (Roger Staubach; Dallas QB 1969-79) would fit.

Naming a MINI is an important thing that shouldn't be taken lightly, after all, it will be with it for the rest of its existence!

Great topic Mike!

Yeah... After seeing the cowboys stuff, i kind of expect to see your Cassie end up in a parade some day with a giant papier mache helmet on it and a wire facemask over the front. Part of my interest in this topic is to see where everyone else found their names.

So we've got 1 horse, 1 dog, and 1 girl/football player's name so far. All different... Who's next?

Hey...my first MINI resembles the Katie remark! I named my first MINI Katie. She wasn't laser blue though but a cool blue metallic cutie. I choose that name for a couple of reasons. One, after the saying "Katy (or Katie) bar the door". Kind of look out here she comes deal. And two, I'm a Star Trek Voyager fan & like Kate Mulgrew. I know, I'm a nerd.

Then I traded her in for a hot orange, Candy. I thought of candy corn for some odd reason, go figure. I know a real stretch on the name here but it stuck.

Phil bought some of his graphics from Aesthetic Creations. Hope to see Secretariat for the January meeting at Backyard Burgers!

Hiya,

I had a VW many years ago that was named Elmo Pugsly Tuba. I couldn't use the name again, darn. So one day when I went into the garage and saw my space blue MINI next to my pacific blue metallic BMW R1150RS motorcycle, I thought, look, it's the blues brothers. So the MINI got the name Elwood. With the british bulldog heritage, Pug came to mind, The name keeps getting longer, now it's Elwood Pugmire Blues. I wonder if it will get longer?

My MINI's name is Oliver - it's pepper white and after seeing Richard Hammond trek across Africa in a 1963 Opel Kadett I feel it's an appropriate name!

Names

Jamie finally decided upon a name for his 04 MCS JCW; Grey Wolf. Being that it is that medium slate metalic silver and that he sneaks up on everyone then blasts by them, it's a fitting name.

Anyone else?

Is Malcolm going to stay in the local area once delivered to his new parents? Be sure to let them know of the club.

Congrats on the Clubman, looks like you will be the first in the club to have one; we have another member getting theirs on the 12th of April.

I'm trading Malcolm in to MoSA, so no idea where it'll end up.
The Screen is in fine condition, no tears, with bag. New, they're $449 now I think - guess I'd sell it for around $200 - saw another one on the boards for around $300. Also will throw in those door armrest things - don't think they'll fit the new style...

I'm game for both the screen & armrests. I remember u showing me the armrests...those were super cool! I know u said u won't be at the April mtg & we may miss the May mtg because of the MITTY in ATL. I'm in no hurry but if you want to unload it before we cross paths again in WR then let me know when is convenient for you & we can meet up. Just give Shaun & I any reason to come drool on your new Clubman!

Sparky

Sparky looks great, there isn't another Purple Haze MINI in our club; Sparky will certainly be a one-of-a-kind!
