Hi gang:
The search for the MidCal meeting home continues. This month we're going to do a little sumptin' south of the border: Chevy's in Riverpark. Please PM/call/throw paper airplane at me/etc. & RSVP so I can ensure everyone's well taken care of & there's plenty of room.
Location:
7634 North Blackstone Avenue
Fresno, CA
Phone: 559.446.1905
Four from Lemoore will be there. Two cars where are we going to park? It always looks better when were all together and it keeps those inconsiderate 4X4's from parking next to us.

Hi all:
Chevy's has confirmed our seating for 30 people tomorrow for the meeting. Cookie has negotiated to have separate checks, but please understand that orders will progress down the table as if we were all at separate tables, ie. one end of the table will be eating while the other's waiting. Given the size of the party & all the criteria, this is more than reasonable & I wanted to let you guys know. See you tomorrow!!! ~Joe
As promised, attached is the picture of the MINI Cooper handbag. I found it on ebay and it comes in red or black. The interior is black and white checked and has the saying "It's not just a car, it's a MINI."
BMW of Concord sells them and I contacted them through their store on ebay in order to acquire the black one. Shipment was very fast and the handbag quality is very good. It does not have many compartments but holds several small zippered organizational bags quite well.
On ebay just query/search on "MINI Cooper handbag" and up it pops.
Good seeing everyone tonight, especially Joe and Jill.

Great meeting Thanks Joe for all your work putting this stuff together. Seems like a good place, but if we get even more people we will need two rooms Just one thing though, whoever gets there first needs to find a place where "all" the Minis can park. I some some "cars' out by themselfs, they looked very lonely . Here is some information about the harnesses I spoke about:
Quick Fit Pro
The Quick Fit Pro is the world's only 4 Point harness designed to be used with a stock seat and a HANS device. Based on the standard Quick Fit the Pro model is perfect for dual duty cars used in non-competition open track days as well as on the street.
The only harness that utilizes factory receptacles for simple installation and removal. This harness is perfect for anyone that uses their car off the track as well - very popular with the AutoCross crowd. Not designed for use with HANS.
It was good to see everyone at last nights meeting. Great turnout. Our group keeps getting bigger & bigger. Great company always makes for fun times. See you all soon. Also thanks Kurt & Marty for bring the antlers.(our cars are going to look soooo cute, right Ken)

If anyone missed out on getting their Christmas MINI mods, or if Kurt and Marty run out, I found a link so that you don't have to feel like Rudolf before Santa asked him to guide the sleigh - unable to play reindeer games......

I feel a group picture coming on... is it a herd of reindeer.....
If anyone missed out on the antlers at the meeting, I found them at Walgreens today. The Shaw/Fowler store had about 1/2 a dozen on the shelf. If anyone would like them and can't get out to get them, I will pick them up for you. Just let me know.

Ok Fracky nice job. Thanks for the kind words at the end of the minutes a couple of things I am still working on getting the logistics set into place to get all of our members onto my work sight. I will need a list of names and all as we get closer and I will let you know. Suzie and I will be leaving for Cape May NJ on the 8th of December and returning just under two weeks latter as were going to watch our Daughter graduate from Coast Guard Boot Camp. I want to thank all the great folks of MidCal Mini's and Dr Steve for all the help they have provided my family during my last deployment. I thought I was going to be getting out in September however the Navy felt I was qualified to wear the second star and made me a Master Chief and it looks like the final day in the Navy will be in 2012 after 30 years service. It is honestly the support that we get from the people of the community and our club that makes it a lot easier when your halfway around the world and an issue comes up. From those that wear red on Fridays to those that honk their horns in support of the service members I thank each and every one of you.

Mike!?! You're online! You know what this means now....you have to get your own MINI. C'mon, you know you want one.
It was great seeing you at the November MidCal Minis meeting Friday night (11/21) at Chevy's. I thought things went perfectly, ie. the staff was great, the meeting room was perfect, plenty of space, quick turn-around on food, etc. I think we should keep Chevy's on our short "go to" list for club meeting locations. This was our biggest meeting turnout- 37 people. Hope you had fun!!! For those of you who weren't able to make it I wanted to follow-up with the meeting minutes, so you have "the skinny" on what's coming up for the club in December-February.
Congratulations Don on taking the top prize at EuroSunday-Fresno. I'm/we're looking forward to seeing pictures on the web of your Clubman. Please keep my buddy Dave T in your thoughts & prayers, as he's still recovering from my/our catastrophic accident. Every day's a better day, but he still has a ways to go. Thanks guys!
Minutes:
1. Vehicle insurance. Unfortunately, I'm finding out the hard way as I go through my vehicle + accident claim(s) how the insurance process works in a catastrophic loss situation, ie. coverage of medical bills, how/if a modified vehicle is covered by your policy & if so, to what extent. Please talk to your insurance agent & review your coverages & that best fit for your needs. It's critical that you fully understand your policy & what happens in the event of a accident/loss. You'd be amazed how cheap it is to increase your coverages & protect your financial interests. For those of you running modified MINI's inquire about a "stated value" policy. Trust me, it could be the best thing you've done this year.
2. "Project Top Secret" * It's 'game on' & the first three Cosworth big-valve heads have arrived at Custom Mini Shop this week. Cosworth will no longer be manufacturing these heads & M7 Tuning purchased their entire stock. To my knowledge there is only 25 units & 3 are already gone. Some will make their way to Asia, some to Europe and a few to some high-performance MINI enthusiasts in the US. Description:http://www.cosworth.com/shop_item.php?productid=572. These are selling for $1,699 & once they're gone....they're gone. Emil (Vitesse Pro) has had some custom cams ground to match the Cosworth heads, so after Dr.Steve works his install magic we'll be doing another custom dyno-tune day with Emil at Fresno Performance to dial in our "monsters". Call Dr.Steve (Custom Mini Shop): 559.320.0004 if you're interested in maxing your MINI's potential.
3. December run. This will be an early morning Saturday run for those interested through Wonder Valley area. It'll be early morning on a good weather day & will be a good/safe time to stretch your Cooper's legs. I'll be sending out the NAM link once ChrisW & I have finalized route so you can see where we're going. We'll make sure it only takes part of your morning & you'll have the rest of your day.
4. MidCal Christmas party: Saturday (12/13) at Michael & Vickiey's house. There will be a gift exchange (max gift cost= $20), lots of food, laughter & good times. Please dress "Christmas'y" & if that means breaking out your Bill Cosby sweater that's a-ok. For those of you drinking, Vickiey has a 5 bedroom home and graciously has requested that you remain the night. More details to come via NAM link.
5. Photoshoot day (on a Saturday or Sunday): for those of you interested, I'll be helping to coordinate a short run to a photo-perfect spot so we can take pictures of your MINI's with the perfect background. If you would like to help take pictures please let me know.
6. VinylStyles day - November 25th at Custom Mini Shop. Here's the thread with details: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...=140355&page=3. Please note that Lyle needs advance notice, so if you'd like to have his assistance with your MINI please let me (or Lyle) know. He doesn't carry stock unless he has lead time. Lyle's MINI just won "Car of the Month" at EuroSunday in the Bay Area: http://www.eurosunday.net/bay/cotm/112008/cotm-2.html
7. Track day & autocross events to come. Please note the importance of safety equipment beyond your MINI's original equipment. For these events & club runs it might be advisable that you invest in a Schroth harness to keep you in your seat: http://www.schrothracing.com/product...ck-fit/qf-mini. This is a non-permanent solution to adding a harness & maintaining your regular seat belt for daily driving. It's important to drive within your means, to understand your car's particular nuances & how to drive safely in a controlled environment. I'm looking forward to having an instructor point out my areas for improvement to make me a better driver and I know each of us has room for improvement.
8. MINI Run (February 21-22, 2009) to Kurt & Marty's house in Santa Cruz. Kurt & I will be providing details for the event & online polling for run option(s) via MidCal NAM thread. Stay tuned for details.
Finally for my favorite part of the e-mail, it's time to announce the "totally awesome uber-cool MidCal Minis member" for November. Dun, dunna, dunnnnnn....USN Senior Chief John Dunlap aka "Chief"!! I'm/we're proud of your service to our country John & keeping your men and women safe. John is responsible for the production efforts of 13 work centers, 11 Chief Petty Officers and 160 junior personnel in the performance of maintenance / modification and DEPOT level repair and overall management of 10 F/A-18C aircraft, each with a price tag of over 38 million dollars. He has been in the Navy for over 26 years of which he has been deployed for over 4 years on six different cruises on board four different aircraft carriers. He has traveled the world and supported Operation Desert Shield followed by Desert Storm. His recent cruise found him flying aircraft in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
