Reason: date correction
Sorry I missed this...I would have liked to see how a MINI handled RallyCross. I would have thought we would have needed a fairly intensive suspension upgrade to be remotely competitive.
P.S. The guy who owns the white Daewoo just moved in around the corner from me. I can't remember his name right now. I knew i recognized the car from the Rallying Point website but didn't put it together until he came home with numbers on his windows.
Actually, RallyCross was designed with stock cars in high consideration. All the courses must be on level, or very slight hilly course layouts. And for the past two months the orginizers of the events have been smoothing out the ground of the site for better driving. The MINI handles it just fine; little dirty at the end of the day but fine otherwise.
We're having another event this Sunday, June 8 at the same location. I'll be out there but not driving (under regional suspension). They've arranged for the event to be catered by Central BBQ, I think that's right, for $7 for spectators. And like the autocrosses, you can ride for free. So it'll be a great day no matter what.
The guy in the DaeWoo is Kenny. Cool guy, bit goofy but cool. Yell "Keg in the Woo!!" at him and he'll talk to ya.
Didn't see your response till Monday morning so I missed the event Sunday. I will keep an eye out on the Rallying Point for the next date. I guess from the rally footage I have seen in the past, I thought it would be a bit rougher on the car. Autox is pretty fun as is...I can't imagine combining it with a little sliding in the mud!
