Motoring and Camping Trip?

Kimoz and I met up while I was in Cleveland last week and we thought it might be fun to get some people together for a motoring/camping trip somewhere! Is there any interest?

OK, so here's the Dates: Aug. 21-23 (get there sometime after work on friday night, leave sunday when you want.)

Once we decide who all is coming we'll try to plan some foods and such.

People/Member's Attending:

1.) Carve906 & Curves906
2.) Kimoz & Spawn
3.) ImagoX & family
4.) Jpelaston & family
5.) Thumike37 & family
6.) OutMotoring (sat?)
????

Let me know if you want to join or can't for some reason.

OK I know it is not camping, but Jill and I have stoped at this park a couple of times on trips to my grandparent's house and it is really nice and quiet. OHH and it is right off a really fun driving road. We could easliy make a loop to get there one day and back to Columbus the next and still have time explore and relax. I would also leed a drive to a local pizza place the night we stayed there.

Just a thought

It might take until then for me to get a weekend off! Keep an eye here and we'll see if we can set something up.

Ohio has tons of camp ground & I would not rule out WV. Right now only weekends in August that work might be 8/21 or 8/28. Should we pick a date first then a site?

Brown County Indiana has a great state park and nice B&B located within a few miles of each other..

I am always up for camping.. I am an avid backpacker, and mountain biker.

Mohican State Park near Mansfield OH, is also one of my favorites.

I may be up for this Idea. There are a few parks in Ohio that come to mind, Hueston woods in south western Ohio and Salt Fork state park eastern Ohio.

Mohican, Salt Fork, Seneca Lake, Hueston Woods ---- all look great.

Aug. 21 or 28 weekends & anytime right now for Sept./Oct.

Maybe we should post a POLL, can we do that on NAM?

HEY - Robb - can you get a discount at any of those - with your connections, HMMM?

I doubt it... I work for County Parks... not sure I could get anything off from the State Parks. I know my boss used to work for Hueston Woods... I could check Monday. I could always try the whole... we have a summer camp coming to your park for an camping trip...

That being said, my vote would be for Mohician (since it's been on my list for a while now anyways... ;) ), but either of them should be fun. I'll check my work schedule for this Fall and August and try to come up with some dates.

Mohican has a bunch of stuff to do people could bike canoe or just hang out by the river. There are also fun roads around there to play on!

We did a nice canoe trip the year before last at Mohican with my parents and brother! We were at Mid-Ohio, met them at the canoe place, then went straight home on 71(one of my least favorite roads of all time) . So we did not get to check out any of the roads, so that sounds like it could be fun.

Possible Dates for camping

So far, these are the dates that are looking like they will work for me... how about the rest of you? I mention Friday on these, although a meeting sometime after work on said fridays would be best...

August: 21-23

Sept: 18-20
(Sept 19th is not ideal, as this is the BMW vs. MINI ralley at Cinci MINI and I'd like to do it as well...but if it works for everyone else, heck... maybe we could ralley then head somewhere to camp!)

I think there was a weekend in October as well... but it was later, so camping might be an issue with cool weather. Unless the camping trip piggy-backed on the Old Fart's on the Dragon

How about you?

Amy and I are up for this - we've been pining to go camping, and combining that activity with a drive seems like a "perfect storm" of happiness. Somewhere wooded with hiking trails for us, please. If we could work in a covered bridge tour along the way, that would be good, too. And a stop-over for good BBQ as well - that sounds like a great idea as well.

both dates work for me. Spawn may have football (soccer). I can go solo if needed. I have screen gazeeebooo (canapy) 10'x10' that comes along for bugs or rain. Only concern if too far/long a weekend is if we can bring dog, not a deal breaker though, X-hubby still loves her.

Mohican is my vote.

This will be funnnnnn.

Cover bridge scenic byway FTW...

Robb, Google is your friend....

There is a wonderful place with a few covered bridges. SR 26 between Woodsfiel & Marieta is the coverd bridge scenic byway. We used this road on RiverRun this year. It is in the middle of the best driving roads Ohio has to offer.

http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2321/travel.html

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...nic+byway+ohio

There are five campgrounds with one at the Hune Bridge.

Knowlton covered bridge...

Rinard covered bridge....

Hune covered bridge....

Hill covered bridge....

Nice pics as always but is the too far south for me Magellan, I mean, Crashton?

I just thought of this, if we go to Mohican we can call it:

MoMaM 09 = Mid-Ohio Minis at Mohican ---- i know LAME

Yea, if it works out correctly, a 9 year old box and 1 year German Shepherd might be joining the trip as well Then the corgis could join and there'd be as many dogs as people!
