AutoX Today

You all missed out (except Sean) had a great turn out today with the Miata people and a really fun fast course. Had 2 Mazdaspeed 3's, Scion Tc, Z06 Vette, 300Z, GTO, Mustang, S-10 pickup, a Honda that lost it's muffler stuffing, and some other fun stuff. One of the Miata guys even did commemorative doughnuts (none his fist outing, 1 his on his second try, 2 on his 3rd and 3 on his 4th). Afternoon was fun watching a couple of the Miata guys try to top the Vette's best time, they didn't do it :(

I took a ride in the Vette and 62 mph in 1st gear is pretty cool (it has been moded a bit so the numbers are a bit off the stock car).

Also had my first AutoX injury, I pulled my shift know off and scratched my finger.

I would love to make it to one of these. The one time I ran I had a blast. You will have to let us know the next time you go.

Was that Vette a z06 that is totally blacked out?

Yep totally blacked out. The owners are a couple they both drive, they had a C5 Z06 and replaced it this year with a C6 Z06.

Here are the rest of the dates for this year:

July 26
August 23

October 11

I posted a few pictures up on the Mid-Ohio Motoring Website. There are so many pictures (large file size) that I will have to put it on a CD for each person and bring it the next breakfast. Or I can send just a few of them via email.

Fun times today!

Well it would be easy if I had not just overwritten some of the pictures when trying to consolidate folders. I recovered a good portion of the photos but still may have lost some. I will have to sort through them and see what I have.
I had already sorted your photos out so no worries there. I also think I recovered Allen's run(s) as well. The rest are up in the air.

Ok I am posted images on the Mid-Ohio Motoring website here. They are full size so they take up a lot of space. I would like keep the pictures there for only a short time, so please let me know when you have downloaded all the pictures you want.

There is a folder for Allen, Mike (the Vette is in there), and the Neon. I can post the pictures of the Miata's if someone wants them as well.

You can never take too many pictures of my Mini

How so? Generally any course they set up at the Historic Society is nothing but corners. Don't tell me that they actually put in a STRAIGHTAWAY someplace?

We had a big snowman this time, so you had a constant radius turn to the right then a hard swap to a turn to the left it was just a violent swap for the car's chasis. I just imagined the older car would be creaking and snapping from the force

Old cars are very flexible, unlike old drivers.

IMO auto x is harder on a cars suspenders than a track day.

I think I would agree on that point as long as there are no offs Hitting cones is much better for suspension than jumping off track.

As long as one doesn't park in the tirewall or hit the armco it's easy on the car. At an auto x you beat the snot out of the suspenders whether one hits cones or not. I do agree that at an auto x there is less chance of having to make friends with the bodyman.

Guess one pays their money & takes their chances.
