Who From Central Ohio is Going To MOTD 2008?

MOTD 2008 is approaching. Who's planning on going, where are you staying, and do we want to plan a get together while down there?

Hmm. I have not thought about this. Is it too late to work out a plan?

I'm not in Central Ohio, but Northern KY/Cincinnati. My wife and I will be heading to the Dragon down 75 on the 29th of April. If there is a group, maybe we can join in.

I will be @ MOTD this year Mark! I am flying into Knoxville Wednesday afternoon. I will have some new brakes installed early Thursday morning and will arrive at the Dragon around noon.

I am bringing my tent and camping out in Fontana campground next to the dam.

I believe that Sean (MC40monster) and Yuriy (Yuraaa) are also driving down in their MINIs Friday night and camping near me.

What day do you plan to get there Mark? Will this be your first time at a MOTD?!

The wife and I will be heading down there probably on Apr 30th (that morn). We may alter our plan once the 'schedule of events' is released...but thats the plan as of now

We will be camping @ Fontana as well

Unfortunately though, we'll have to leave friday afternoon... Wife's best friend is getting married on Sat and since my wife is IN the wedding...'apparently' we have to be there for the rehearsal dinner...

I plan on leaving the morning of the 30th. I'm too old for this to be the 1st time

I hoping to go down for a couple days. I did the dragon by accident in my previous Outback about 5 years ago. I was cutting through the Smokies on a beautiful, unpaved road (Parson's Branch) and landed on the dragon. I was just gawking around like, "What are all these motorcycles doing here?" After a couple curves I figured it was an attraction. Would love to do in the MINI.

I've been thinking about going to MOTD08 after we drove it on our way back from FL last summer. How is the camp site??? We'd camp to save some $$$. When you camp is it first come first serve? I also want to know about the facilities??? Showers??? or I'd be willing to split a cabin with some peeps. I know it can be an expensive trip. But I know others who have split the cost by going in on a cabin deal.

Fontana is sold out for MOTD 08 but there are always cancellations and folks looking to share. And there's a waiting list to get on. I have a 2bdrm cabin reserved and if some thing comes up I will post it.

We're going. Grayson pointed out to us that we are taking all of our cars to the Dragon. Hmmm...indeed we are. Our 99 Mini Traveler (aka Suburban) will tow Fiona while I drive Dawn. We plan to leave Tuesday after the kids get done with school, drive half way down, stay in some hotel, and arrive before lunch on Thursday. We have a room reserved at the Fontana Lodge (in the hotel). Anyone want to set up a caravan?

Can a 40YOMOTD join in on the OFOTD 2008 or is there an age limit? I'm sure I'll have to work during the MOTD08. I am trying to go to the MME in Maine in July when I can take my next time off work.

I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with my work schedule. The project I'm currently on is more then likely going to have it's go live date moved, which means that I'll still be doing testing during MOTD.

I am getting enough grey in my goatee that I could probably pass as an OF. If I can't make MOTD it is good to know that there is another option later in the year.

Sue and I will be there again this year. We will be staying at the Microtel in Robbinsville, but understand that it might be sold out as well, but a phone call to check for sure doesn't cost much, phone number is 828-479-6772. We will also be down in October, not necessarily for OFOTD (mainly because I don't know the dates for that exclusive event.

Andrea (the real boss at Aaron's clubhouse), can one of you PM me the name and location so I can begin strong arm negotiations to get a cabin near you. The closer I am to Aaron's clubhouse, the more goodies I can justify buying

I'm not sure that this Old Fart will fit in a room at the MICROtel but I'll call them and see what I can get. If I get a room, I'll have to borrow Kim's front plate "YES I FIT"

I've stayed there. Tell them you want the commandant's suite. The rooms are adequate in size. The parking lot is Micro. You'll be glad you are parking a MINI.
