The first snowfall of the season this morning in Central Ohio . I know Chuck has one of his 50 sets of winter tires on Blu Brit ...Cooper is probably making hand brake turns ...I'm wondering why I put a Carbon Fiber snow plow on the front chin of my car ...and Kim is up in Cleveburg laughing at all of us . What are the rest of you doing?
Carpooling with my wife so my MINI can stay in the garage!
And having fun, I love snow it makes every drive a rally stage sliding around corners and throwing a roster tail it is great! All at slow speeds of course, snow makes every car a slow car!
I survived my first drive in the snow Couldn't really gauge how the car handles since I was in stop and go traffic the whole way here. Might have to find a nice open parking lot to play in later tonight to get a better feel for how the car reacts.
I survived as well. I drive through some twisties (Licking County) on the way to the nearest highway. While the mini was not a go kart there it was predictable. On the highway (I-70) I was cruising along in the fast lane passing cars many times larger than I. So now the question becomes do I keep the all seasons for the rest of this winter (they seemed to be adequate) or bite the bullet for winter shoes...
My MINI is safely tucked in the car cave as of yesterday at 2PM! Just in time. I'll be in my Outback for awhile now -- although working from home is great on days like this!
My wife made the 1 hour drive to Cleveland in the MINI this morning. She called halfway there to tell me the road conditions were horrible and that she could fly if it weren't for all the nuts on the road. Our MINI has Blizzaks!
Took the 4WD Suburban to work... What's funny is that I had Fiona out yesterday and drove her to work, just to get the oil flowing and to top off the battery. Good thing - God knows when I'll be able to take her out again NOW.

Ahhhhh.... 73 degrees & beautiful yesterday here in Colorado!!!
As I recall, when I was in Colorado a few years ago a typical day was like this:
Nice warm day (shorts weather even) up until the afternoon when it turned cold and dumped 4 - 6 inches of the white stuff.
And yes, use it an an opportunity to upgrade, sure! Just wait till after the snow is done.

CHKMINI, I'm sorry about your car, but glad you're OK.
We got around 4-5" here and I've been out and about all morning. The roads are nasty as we had quite a snowburst and it was clogging up as soon as the plows had passed. All kinds of cars and trucks are off the roads...these people should be BANNED from driving in such weather if the don't know HOW to drive in it. I think they still think they can go the speed limits. Thank God I grew up in snow belt Ohio...it's a piece of cake around here.
Chuck, those Kumho ASX all seasons performed marvelously today...no sliding or skidding, and just a tad traction loss at first as I started up from an uphill stoplight. I'm satisfied with the tires, to say the least.
I need to figure out a way to get a aero kit now... All this talk of replacing the bumpers has me daydreaming...

I use All-Seasons in the cold months, yeah... Best $400 I ever spent - 4 X-lites with Dunlop All-Season radials, used with 1,200 miles on them.

No make it bounce up and down, in time to the song "Low Rider".

Here in the Balitmore D.C. area snow is falling and as always it's very pretty. We only have a dusting at this point but by the way traffic is tied up you'd swear that we got 3 feet. The afternoon commute will likely be hell. At least the trees will be pretty to look at while I sit in traffic this afternoon.
I guess everyone has his own ideas about all seasons versus dedicated snows. For me, it seems the all seasons I have on right now are doing the trick. If I lived in the Akron/Canton/Cleveland area or in other areas in Ohio that get a lot of snow, I might have to rethink that decision, but, that said, what I have on right now is "good enough". I also think driving sense comes into play, too. If you want to go "balls to the wall" in snow and icy conditions, then, yes, get HP dedicated snows...maybe even studded tires, if you really want "security". But, if you want to drive somewhat cautiously in those conditions [as in respecting the road], then get some good all seasons and have tires that can go throughout the year without having to change out. Just MY 3c [inflation, you know ].
