I live in Chesapeake so we are not that close to you. We did have a ralley last year that started in Marion, Va. There are a lot of great roads out that way.
Sorry Im not from there, but I did just graduate from VT. There are awesome roads out there. Have you checked out the CCVT (car club?) they go on fun rides...
except for two years ago when some dudes car overheated and the people who lived in the trailer next to us yelled at him to get off the lawn.....
Hello! 03 DS MCS here in Blacksburg... just happened to be on the site looking for autocross opportunities!
I've traded emails with MinimortVA a few times, but just to be official, I'm in Christiansburg, '05 MCS CR/W. Sometime we should try to have a Blacksburg to xx? drive --- or hit an autocross...
WOW --- Finding this site under Mid-Atlantic was just dumb luck. I just got my '05 MCS JCW Chili Red in January '07 (only 5,700 miles w/a great price) couldn't pass it up. We are heading to the Dragon today, but wanted to see if you all would be interested in forming a Mini Club in this part of Virginia. I live in Bburg and know several other Mini owners. In fact one just took delivery of a new '07 last week. Anyway, let me know if you have an interest in clubing. E-mail me at wcarpntr3@verizon.net.
Will let you know all about the "Tail of the Dragon" next week. A weekend with almost 500 Minis on a back road with 316 curves in eleven miles. Got to be a great party.
Later,
A group of folks from Hampton Roads will be meeting in Lexington Va for the weekend. We will be there from 11/2 to 11/4. We plan to do a lot of driving if anyone from that part of the state wants to join in.
Hi everyone. I have an '07 DS/B/MCSa named EYNSTYN. I am currently living in Atlanta, but I'll be moving up to the Blacksburg area in July 2008. I was hoping to meet a few people via NAM. I am an active member in Atlanta MINIs here in the ATL.
Just wanted to introduce myself with the hopes of meeting some new people, as I don't know anyone up there yet.
Just resurrecting this thread to see if any owners are still around... does anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic? My baby is in need of some TLC and I don't trust the mechanic that works on our truck with it.
My wife's MINI goes to Martin's German Service in Roanoke. She just bought the MINI used last year, but Keith Martin and his crew have been keeping our Porsches and BMWs healthy for quite a few years. They're not a MINI specialty shop (I don't know of one nearby), but they have some experience buying, selling, servicing, and repairing MINIs.
Other shops that I might consider for the MINI are Sports Car Clinic in Roanoke (Mark Wilson, owner) and Car Force in C'burg (Eric). Again, these aren't really MINI shops, but they have had some experience with MINIs.
If you learn of a good shop in the area that specializes in, or even emphasizes, MINIs, please let me know.
We see some MINIs in the area, but don't know any of the owners. The most recent MINI I saw was a solid pepper white turning off of Prices Fork into Stroubles Mill. My wife's MINI is a solid space (dark) blue '06 MC.
I noticed that you asked about autocrosses in an earlier post. Blue Ridge Region-SCCA had an excellent two-day autocross at "the Cage" parking lot at Virginia Tech June 11-12; thanks to the Car Club of Virginia Tech (CCVT) securing the lot for the second straight year. Not a single MINI showed up. BRR-SCCA's next autocross is also a two-day event at the Danville airport July 16-17. It's also the annual Commonwealth Games Autocross, which usually draws a fairly large crowd; some from NC.
I don't know of any organized local MINI action, but my wife joined the Tarheel Minis' annual Parkway tour for one leg June 17-18. They may not be very local for us, but they're fairly active, and some members are from SWVA.
In theory, THMMC has a SWVA "chapter". Not been very active lately, but there is a subforum for them on the site. If you want to setup something, feel free to post it up.
As for the local garages there is Valley excellence BMW off orange ave and Samson has treated us Roanoke guys really well thus far,he used to work in annapolis MD at what is now BMW/mini of Anapolis so he a certified mini tech and was there for years when he was there.
It's funny I practically live around the corner from Waynes!
I've posted a couple of times trying to see who was closer to this area on tar heel,I'm glad to see there are more in Blacksburg than I was starting to think?
