I live in Detroit, but I cannot really recommend any good bars because I don't drink. I know some sweet places in the D though.

Alas, I'm on business travel from monday to very, very early on Thursday. Thursday is the second supplier day at NAIAS, and that's where my buddy from Atlanta and I will be found. Recovery day is slated for Friday.
Be sure to pay homage to Jim Clark's Lotus 38 at the Henry Ford. Worth the price of admission right there.
If you do get over to Woodward Ave., be sure to visit the Auto Zone just past 14 Mile road in Birmingham. Diecast, mags and books. Say hi to Eric (unless he's at the show). Duggan's is the epicenter of the cruise and is just south of the Auto Zone (it's green and huge - you can't miss it). I prefer the burgers at Redcoat Tavern across the street but it's usually very, very busy.
Speaking of burgers, Miller's in Dearborn is worth the trip. Awesome.
If you are at the show, Cobo Joe's is right across the (side) street and offers much better fare than the hall. The Anchor Bar is up the hill a block or two, Slows Barbecue over in Corktown is supposed to be awesome. Be sure to check out Detroit Brewing Company over by the Opera House (and the original brew and eat establishment - Royal Oak Brewing Company in Royal Oak, natch).
Places seem to be packed these days...arrive either early or very late if you want to eat.
Good luck and welcome to our fair cities...
Ron
