BMW dealers are the worst I have experienced (they sell the Minis in Mexico)

Look at this: I payed over 60% of the car cash last week, because the salesman told me the car was ready at the distribution center. 6 days pass, I call and find out the car is not ready yet, because the dealer hasn´t payed for it!

So, my car is sitting in the distribution center, I already payed for most of it and this guy tells me he hasn´t enough money to pay for the car. "Mon dieu".

Anyway, I gave him the ultimatum that I would cancel the car and go somewhere else and promised to get it as soon as possible.

Conclusion: Premium cars but terrible and expensive dealerships

Wait until you deal with the sevice department. That's much more fun!
Great thing it's such a fun car otherwise we'd all be pissed.

Haven't had the luck to deal with them yet, but from what most people say I'm not looking foward to it.

The thought occurred to me today as I was zoning about the arrival of my MINI that it would be nice to have a thread or forum devoted to discussing service departments,,, similar to the 'rate a dealer' topic. Apologies if I missed same ..

I'll have to drive between two - three hours to get service but I have 5 different dealers to choose from in that time radius - so I'd rather have info from you all about experience with the service department than try each one out. I'd volunteer to do the work except I don't know much going in ...

BMW dealerships are like working with 8 year old kids, you gotta say just the right things to make anything happen. Currently driving a 325i, I take my car elsewhere (usually my garage) and leave the dealership, and their service department for those that don't know any different.

That reminds me, I'll have to search for a shop once my complimentary service period is up (although I may, and I say that tenitively, may go for the extended maintenance and warranty, if Motor City MINI completely "tosses my salad")

enough for now,
Ryan

Miniacos Mexicanos,

http://www.mundomini.com/phorum/read...mp;i=1&t=1

OK, time for more complaints about the bmw dealer. I still can´t believe how a brand that makes such expensive cars can have such a terrible service.

After leaving the car at the dealer for one week (yes, one week), they couldn´t find what caused the clunking noise, so they did nothing to the car. I also asked them to fix the rattles in the hatch...

The day I pick up the car (after talking to my service manager) I told him I would be there at 3PM sharp, asking him to have the car ready. It´s 4PM and I´m still waiting for the car, and to my surprise, they brought me the wrong car!

They finally bring my car after I start complaining very rude. The car is completely dirty, the hatch was never touched (actually I got a new rattle) and I bet they didn´t touch the car in the whole week (no wonder why they couldn´t find the problem).

Anyway, for all Mexico City Miniacs: STAY AWAY FROM MUNCHEN MOTORS SANTA FE.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Munchen...you know they read the posts at MundoMINI, so posting there may alert them...

Mexminime, I´ll fix your hatch rattle for free...all you need is a little velcro (the hairy side) on the hatch hook...

Cheers!!

Imagen Motors sucks

For whatever it's worth, some dealers are excellent. I suppose when you only have a few dealers to cover a wide geographical area, there is less competition and therefore less incentive to focus on customer satisfaction, but I've been consistently imporessed with the sales and service at my local dealer. If you're treated poorly, by all means post it so the good ones get the business.

I guess it's like anything else- some good, some bad. A short story from Fayetteville, NC. I stopped by the local BMW dealer because there was a MINI on thier lot. It was a little tired (the MINI), anyway, since I was there I thought I'd stop by the service dept to see if they could order any mini parts. I thought I'd humor myself, fully expecting a no- the parts guy says he has oil filters in stock. Shocking! So if you live near Fayetteville and need an oil filter for your MINI- the local BMW dealer can help.

The BMW/MINI parts department isn't any better. My 4 year old son can give me better info.
