Saludos
Chobe.

Hellos Mini Fans, sorry for my previous Spanish, I’m going to translate.
Last Friday a good friend of mine was kidnapped for 6 hours here in Mexico city just to take his car away, so this post is to tell all Mini users here in Mexico the exact location of where this happened to be more cautious in the near future.
Thank God my friend is OK just a black eye and some bruises in the face and body.
He was forced to get into the truck for 4 hours while they drove all the way down to Puebla which is a state here in México.
Have a good day and Motor on If you can in you’re country because I’m afraid to do so in mine.
Chobe

That's why I often carry Senor Glock with me

And VERY sorry to hear about your friend. That has to be awful. I hope that you or he never experience that again.

None of Glocks reletives are allowed where I am from, infact, if you are found with even a replica of any kind of firearm, it will mean 5 years in the slammer.

Muchas gracias, y en efecto el Mini esta considerado aqui como un auto de lujo, por lo que no nos queda mas que vivir con cuidado.

Señor Glock is ilegal here in Mexico that kind of gun is only for army use, so I you get pull over and they find any king of firearm, you get to stay for 5 years in a place that not even Peter Pan would like to go, that is a Méxican prison.
cheers.

Sorry about your friend, Chobe..
I myself survived a kidnapping attempt about six years ago in downtown Mexico city, managed to walk away from the experience with a lot less money in my pockets but my life intact. really crappy experience.
I've been lucky since then, but now I'll have to be more careful especially since I go to the Gym in Tecamachalco..

Was he kidnapped for the Mini, or a truck?

That´s scary if it was the Mini, so far I feel very safe on my civic, which is one of the least stolen cars in Mexico.... but if they start stealing Minis...

Better get Lo-Jack

stolen Mini- yuck.

Hey now. That is scary. I am so sorry to hear of your friend.

I am single woman (grandma)with dog driving my Mini from Nogales to PV in a few weeks to spend the winter. I've traipsed around the world a bit but this long road trip thru Mexico is new for me. Any suggestions?

Ruby

That's the reason why I don't visit mexico city! I'd be so scared to go.
I'd love to go because that's where I was born but I'd rather not...

Que miedo, por eso no regreso ni de visita!
