Freeze, JCWGurl and Myself are autocrossing with the Winnipeg Sports Car Club and having a blast in our MINIs. Check out the pics in the media section or the forums at this site http://www.wpg-autox.org/index.php then come join us. There's far too many Subarus, Miatas and S2000s so we need to work together and show them what our cars can do. Here's some pics.
So I see there is en event Saturday August 19 in Grand Forks. (The last there this year, looks like.)
What is the procedure for signing up?
Go to this site http://www.sccabadlands.org/ and download the registration form, then show up early enough on the day of the event to get your car inspected. However, the Porsche Club has an auto-x right here in Winnipeg on the same day and you will get a lot more runs. It's at Springs Church on Lagamodier, we'll be there for around 9:00 a.m.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for autoxing and we had 3 MINIs out for the Porsche Club AutoX over at Springs of the Living Water Church parking lot (thanks Porsche club & Springs!).
Jonah (known for wonderful window tinting - if you are looking for someone to tint your windows he IS the man to do it! Contact me for his info) in the 02 EB/W MC, Freeze in the 06 DS/DS JCW and me in another 06 AB/AB JCW. The event was LOTS of fun and we hope that more and more MINIs come out to play!
I will be SURE to post the next time the Porsche Club has their AutoX as they only have a few members that attend and have said that it is open to everyone who'd like to try it. I think the cost for non-porsche members was $15 (CHEAP!) for both the practice/test & tune morning and the 4 runs on course.
This was my second time on our new tire set-up and FINALLY we got the pressures nailed down (well, for the conditions) and I managed a 3rd place after a friend in an 05 ASP vette and the University FSAE car...behind by less then a second from 1st!
Great fun! If you're interested in trying out an event keep checking the forum here or send me a PM and I'll get you more info. Beginers are welcome! Don't be shy!
I learned a lot, especially good were the skid pad and figure eight practice.
It seemes the feet get bigger and the pedals get smaller when you're in a hurry. I could have done better except for stomping the clutch and the brake at the same time a third of the way through the first slalom.

I don't know if you noticed but JCWGurl and myself change our shoes for driving. I wear Converse hi-tops and she wears a shoe that's basically cloth with a thin rubber bottom. We do this because the less rubber between your feet and the pedal, the better feel you will have for what's going on-plus you're less likely to get your feet messed up on the pedals.
Good advice, but I can't use that excuse: I already have settled on a well worn in pair of narrow shoes with flexible soles that does very well WHEN I don't get carried away.
On a more upbeat note, the Azenis and wheels are ordered and paid for. Hopefully, TireTrends can get them here before the Sept 2 weekend. I'd like to break them in by driving down to Minot.
