JCW Power Up!!!

Power Up!!!
As I managed to snag the last in-stock AWE Touring exhaust (no waiting )form OutMotoring, next on my list is a power module; specifically the DinanTronics Sport which re-maps boost, fueling, and timing for optimal performance. And Dinan has been a respected BMW tuner for many years!

I've always been fascinated with the Dinan mini! Did not know they make tuning upgrade for gem 3 minis! This is all very exciting, there is however the small "for race use only" AND not sellable to California (which their office is located!) ohhh man. Price is also comparable to the units we have available now. If anyone has any more info or even running this system please share.

Same piggy back system as the rest... Nothing new. Utilize the DME and itself to adjust timing, remap, fuel = riding the DME knock sensor.
Price is very attractive though... Plus they have good warranty.
It's funny how Dinan use to bash piggyback systems on the N54/N55 platform and now they are jumping right into mix. I guess it just takes too much time and resources to fully crack the DME of every new platform. By doing simple piggyback they can earn profit so much quicker.

The "for race only; california" clause is just a legal disclaimer. This will eventually get CARB approved like the Dinantronics Elite. Also I believe you can buy this even if you're in Cali.
I found about this module from a member here who's from NorCal (Thanks Bill Mini F56) and here's his comment..."No check engine light. The power is across the entire RPM range. I think Dinan has posted some Dyno charts. You can believe them. I beat the hell out of this car now for 2 years. Mostly I run Autocross at least once a month. In May we team drove the car and placed 6th and 9th. At the June Autocross we ran the box for the first time. We finished 1st and 6th. I am the slower of the two drivers my son is the faster. I think he adapted to the extra power better than I did. It is too much power and I just over drove the course."
I'm leaning toward the Dinantronics Sport not bec of the cheaper price but more on the Dinan Performance name.

Yeah, the name and the passion for racing and cars is what I like about Dinan. It's not all profit and speed. It's more an art form in my opinion. They are not too far from me and I hope to one day try this unit out. I'm currently running an Nm module (which is great) I'm just always open to new things and Dinan is something I've always looked into.

If Dinan happens to need a modded f55 for some comparisons on power module, I happen to be a local and close by. Love my Nm module but variety is the spice of life!!! Let's put these tune on the dyno for a side by side comparison. Willing to purchase the unit if the numbers and my butt dyno gives it a thumbs up.

Got to install the Dinantronics Sport Performance Tuner Saturday. A proper dyno test is in order but for now here are my impressions fwiw...
Feels tame as it could be in normal driving but start gunning it and the car turns to a totally different animal. I'm only in the Sport+ setting (there's still "Race") just because of the crap 91 octane gas I use. The car is "angrier" now for lack of a better word. It reaches redline and speeds up faster, with tach and speedo rising in tandem. Torque steer is crrrazy tho. My JCW is a manual and Redline power shifts from 1-2, 2-3, even 3-4 felt like the front wheels wanted to jump out of the axle. Maybe just a learning curve for me as this is my first FWD car, a good problem to have I guess. Overall super pleased with this purchase. A relatively cheap ($300 for +30whp) power upgrade from arguably the best BMW tuner in North America.

Here's how I installed mine. You'll need 2 extra zip ties to neatly route the wire. Deciding where to put the module took longer than actually connecting the thing
