Well haven't found tinted nor have I tried a DIY smoked method yet for the scuttle lenses but at least I've rectified the fried egg look I hate so much...

I'm assuming this is a fairly easy mod. I already have my bulbs ready to go. Is there any tips/tricks you can give me to make this as seamless as possible?

Thanks

Its easy. I took off this plastic panel to gain access to the rear of the light to pop it out. No point risking scratching your car attempting to pop it out from the outside.

Like to see when you get it done, Factory blackline should have came like that like it did on gen 2 MINIs with the light gray tinted lens.

Your JCW?

I saw late model 15's and early model 16 F56's with silver bulbs, but all the JCW's I saw, have had amber.

Yup! 2015 JCW with manual transmission (1 of 37 imported to the USA)...must have gotten in under the wire before they buggered them up! LOL! I probably wouldn't have noticed until you posted.

Hmmm I would have preferred if it would have come with the clear ones. The chrome ones I bought were cheap though. All in all about ten bucks. Its a small change and most wouldn't notice. I think it cleans it up nice though.

Only 37 manuals to the states? I wonder how many to Canada? Much fewer I would imagine.

My dealer researched it for me, because my order must have been one of the first...before they produced the manual for 2015. Not sure about Canada (that figure might include Canada).

I will also add that there were approx. 360 JCW's imported in 2015 with the new 6 speed steptronic automatic transmission...pretty sure both figures were for the US only. I don't recall connecting with anyone in Canada while waiting for my car to be produced who had ordered a manual trans JCW (but I did connect with some Canadians with auto JCW's). In the early days of F56 JCW production, the automatic seemed to dominate because MINI wasn't producing the manual until very late in the run (the Getrag 6 speed manual transmission had not been sorted I understand). So anyone with a 2015 JCW with manual transmission has a rare car, especially the lowest VIN's.

I'll have to check, but it really doesn't bother me either way...don't know how a clear bulb could flash amber though!

Its will look clear, its a coating by certain BMW bulbs , looks really light blue / clear , flashes orange/ amber.

Our Ziza bulbs have a silver coating and flash amber .

I can definitely see amber at the base of the bulb but entire top appears clear. Must have those silver coated bulbs. Definitely not like the original post though with the amber bulb.
