JCW Aero Kit(s) nomenclature and variants

Just ordered a JCW Aero kit (ordered a Stage 1 Kit and got a very good deal on both). Now I'm a little confused (even more than usual). On the Accessory site I now see 2 different JCW Airo kits listed. One says "...This version adds colored wheel arches and colred lower sills vs. regular the John Cooper Works Aero Kit...". Don't remember seeing any JCW Aero kits w/painted wheel arches (only the Factory Aero Kit) My part # is 51-19-2-154-738. The list price of $2693.78 on my invoice doesn't match any of the Aero kits on the accessory site too. So which am I getting? Also does this one have the new brake ducts? I was told it came already painted. Does this sound correct?

Can't help much but... I could be wrong but I think the accessory site only lists the unpainted kits for now.

Your list price sounds too high... the pamphlet that I have from Mini (at home... don't have it with me) has the list price for the new painted kits (with all updates) at $1,999. (not counting install)

It may be that the list price is not fixed and was entered so that a specific discount would give the net I paid. Hopefully since it's coming pre painted that means the newer brake ducts. Wish someone was knowledgeable about the part #51-19-2-154-738 and could tell me for sure.

Can anyone point me to a photo of the JCW Aero Kit Stage 1 kit (vs the Stage 2) on a Cooper S?

I might be able to get my hands on a Stage 1 kit, but am having trouble determining the visual difference (if any) between the different Stages.

Any help is much appreciated!

Actually I believe that calling it Stage 2 is incorrect. It just updated with brake ducts located next to the fog lamps. AFAIK that's the only difference. There does appear to be a new kit coming out that costs more that has painted wheel arches (not to be confused with the factory kit).

Oh interesting ... I was led to believe there was a slight visible difference as well.

Does anyone have the older version on their car that could post us a photo or link for verification - and my piece of mind?

There is, the front lip is now slightly more aggressive.

I have the older version, you can somewhat make out what the lip used to look like in this pic:

Example of new lip:

Awesome! Thanks much for posting those.

True, the styling on the newer kit is a bit nicer ... unforunately I am not having luck finding as good of a deal on an updated version - guess "I'll have to live with" the original. But whatever, I am still smiling.

Meh, I prefer the original. The new lip is too angular in my eyes.

Mine should be here is the next day or so. I emailed and asked if it was the new kit. They said they were told it was but until it gets here I won't know for sure since no one knows the part number.

In your photo the trim around the grill is PW and not black (also around you lights isn't chrome but PW). Did you have it painted or did it come this way (I thought they were all black)? Does the kit replace the whole grill (seems like a waist unless they are different sizes) of just the trim piece around it?

Love your wheels too.

It's actually vinyl. The entire car is wrapped in it (it's a pure white).

Well my JCW tuning and Aero kits came in today. However they also got in a couple of pre-sold cars that must be serviced first. I won't have my installs done until Monday now.

I was told it's the new brake kit, though I still need to see for myself to be 100%.

ETK shows that it is an JCW Aerokit II painted.

I also bought the kit and will be installed this week, but mine is primed, so it´s another part number.

Thanks, great news. I'm taking my car in a 7:30 (after I hit the gym) and it should be done by mid afternoon (also having the Stage 1 Kit installed).

Boy MINI really screwed my aero kit up. Took it in on Monday at 7:30 to have the Areo Kit and Stage 1 kit installed and was supposed to be ready before 3:00. Turns out MINI sent the wrong Areo kit, and was the sans PDC kit. So MINI next day shipped a PDC bumper which was (unexpectedly) un-painted. Then the dealer had to paint it Tuesday (now I'll have 3 different paint jobs). Went to install it and it was missing two of the PDC brackets. The best part is there are none in the US and it's being shipped from Germany. So they are getting the car ready for me to pickup (3 days later) and it will be Aero kit with standard rear bumper until the brackets come in (and I have to go through another service call).

Well about to get ready to (literally) run over and pick it up.

Here is a link to purchase the updated items on the Morristown Mini website. It seems the brake duct kit is on sale. The splitters are a decent price too.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Julien321. Getting work done is never fun. Hopefully it will turn out beautiful! Good luck

Actually having the install done right now for no additional charge (thanks Global Imports). What a coincidence the phone just rang and it's ready. About to run (literally) out the door to get it.

Thanks for the tip about the brake duct kit sale. Ordered online this morning and by the time I got back from lunch had an email saying order had shipped. Morristown rocks!

I wish they mounted the ducts with more of a bezel from the front vs. from the rear of the grille.... i want to retrofit them onto the Factory Aero Kit...

Someone on here retrofitted the air duct kit onto his regular S front air dam. Its on NAM somewhere. How much different is the lower front grille on the factory aero than the regular aero???

I had them match the Morristown MINI's price but I also bought the Tuning Kit at the same time. Global has the Tuning Kit on sale (same as Morristown) now. Give Brandon a call at 678-569-7561 and ask him.

I love the look but I'm more impressed with the tuning kit. Here are a couple of pics, I will also post more in the R56 picture thread.
