380cc injectors -- New guy

I'm new. Recently bought a 2005 JCW, one of the injector is bad. The injector is Blue and found out it's 380cc and not the regular S injector.

Question: why they changed to 380cc injector? What upgrades they did to the engine needing a big injectors?
Have they done something drastic in mechanical & to up the fueling system?
Something in the head? pistons? up the boost?

Thanks

380cc Injectors

The short answer is it's part of what was needed to up the hp from 200 to 210.

The extra hp comes from the re-designed air intake, modified ECU programing and 380 injectors.

Hope this helps...

It is a common mod....seems to help even regular R53's a bit if they have a pulley, intake, and maybe an exaust. Some have chosen to get tunes or a JCW flash, but by all acounts the computer will learn to adjust the fuel flow.... And the extra fuel help to keep the car from running lean at higher RPM's with out running too lean as long as the computer is reset after it is done. Stock injectors are 340 I believe. So the extra capicity for the fuel is only 12% or so, well within the 20% or so the computer can adjust for.

Aw...sorry just read you have a real JCW...if you have the JCW airbox, then you have the JCW 210 ....the updated higher hp package that bacame standard in mid 2005. Seeing the blue injectors are a good thing!
You can get a used set for 225$ or so on nam, a new set for 300 to 450$.

The JCW engines are 210 HP compared to the stock engine at around 177.
The JCW changes include: intake, exhaust, increased boost (smaller pulley), ported head, colder spark plugs, larger fuel injectors, and ECU reprogram.

The larger fuel injectors are required to match the increased fuel needs of the modified engine/computer.

http://www.motoringfile.com/2006/02/...ld-air-intake/

a good read if your so inclined!!

from the article....
Interestingly it wasn’t until late 2004 before JCW offered it’s own Cooper S intake. In fact, up until that point even the JCW engine kit used the rather conservative stock intake as part of it’s 200hp system. As with many JCW parts, the intake is also available a la carte and available as part of the JCW upgrade package intended for previous JCW customers. This upgrade (the intake combined with larger injectors) will get the previous JCW owners up to the new kit’s 210bhp level
