Hi to all! It's my first tread and i'm glad to have responses!
First, yes i'm using the handbrake to launch the drift. Once the rear is catching up the front, you have to play with the gas and steering to move the car where you want it to go. To make long drift, you have to start drifting before taking the curve, it's hard, but with some practice, you'll get to know the car. Or you can put the handbrake a bit before the apex to make the car oversteering like if it was a propulsion. For that, you can use the Scandinavian trick as well.
For the paint scratch, don't worry. If you didn't put spacers on your wheels, the 1'' clearance will not let pass any rock. If i'm drifting to right, all the rocks will hit the rocker panel and the inside of the wheel, as of the other side, it will go away from the car. Yes, it's my car, i've been drifting like this for about 4 month, and no paint chip at all. The only paint chip I have is in the front of the car, I painted the chrome grille, scoop and vent black with cheap paint, so it slowly goes away... :(
If you do those kind of drift with your car, you will notice a lot of "dirt smoke". Well, it's really not good for the motor if it pulls it. The standard jcw air filter is made of paper, i will not start the discussion about CAI or foam filter or oiled filter. The only thing is think about it, you can't wash a paper filter. So if you do drift or you go ofter in dirt smoke with your mini, change the filter for a washable on. I baught a K&N that's fit perfectly in that little box. It cost me 50$ canadian, and i wash it after every drift sessions. That's one time per week.

Though you may not have noticed, I beg to differ with you. Look at this pic. There is no way you ain't getting the paint "peppered" with stone chips.
They may be tiny but eventually the clearcoat will look milky white.
I hope you get away with it but like I said... no chips for me.
Mark
