I just bought an '06 JCW and am looking to get wheels for snows, and want to make sure I don't get something which won't clear the brakes. Which wheels work or conversely do any wheels not work? Am I right in assuming that there are no 16" wheels that will work?
Assuming that you mean the 1st gen JCW brakes and not the truly Big Brake 2nd gen JCW Brembo brakes...
Yes the '06 JCW brakes fit all OEM 17" wheels. Also Bridgespoke 16" wheels (and 16" X-Lites, although not officially approved by MINI). Even some aftermarket 15" will fit (go to TireRack and configure a winter package for an '06 factory JCW).
Thanks for all the info folks. Didn't realize that 2nd generation cars got a bigger disc package than first generation cars. Looks like there are some 16" wheels which will fit and that all 17" wheels will fit.
