Seeking suggestions regarding my R56 JCW stage 1 exhaust

Hello everyone,

I am seeking suggestions from experienced R56 JCW stage one owners (or others with similar issues/experiences) on how to make my JCW exhaust just a bit quieter in the cabin when the windows are up. I don't like the deep pitch/echo that I get at times when I get on it or when I have to climb a long hill.... Otherwise, I love the system and the increase in performance it provides.

Some ideas that I have considered:

1) Install Dynamat or similar in the rear area. I like this idea if it would work and wouldn't be too expensive. I have no idea what it would cost.

2) Have a resonator installed in the exhaust by a thrid party exhaust shop. I am concerned that this might make the system more restrictive and reduce overall performance .... but I really don't know. Has anyone ever done this before?

3) Install the factory JCW exhaust. I read a few threads a while back that a few people have done this with their stage 1 JCWs and were very happy. I would love to hear more feedback here regarding this approach and exactly which parts were used.

4) Any other suggestions?

I do NOT want to install the standard S exhaust or try another 3rd party system.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I've thought about doing #3 but people with JCW factory car told me that it's the same as the JCW kit exhaust.

I did option #3 and love it! I got both the front and rear mufflers.

Go to www.realoem.com

18302756516 – R56 Rear Muffler
18307587363 – Factory JCW Rear Muffler

18302756216 – R56 Front Muffler
18307587361 – Factory JCW Front Muffler

You will be getting the one on the left below which is one large resonator and no second cat.

Some people say that I will never get the money out of my MINI that I have put into it. I say, "I get my money's worth everytime I hit the ignition button".

Great feedback. Did you have the JCW stage 1 exhaust before you moved to this? How loud is this set-up with the windows up under load? This is my biggest concern. I love the exhaust otherwise and want to make sure this fixes the problem before I strongly consider this approach.

This has been my issue as well. My 2007 MCS with JCW installed a couple of months ago is great except for the drone around 3000 rpm while cruising in 6th gear.

I'm looking at Milltek or Alta replacements but if there's a separate factory JCW exhaust that's better, I'll try that and post back the results.

Thanks.... would be great to hear what you think. I know of at least one person who went that direction and is very happy.

Another interested party in making the JCW tuning kit more wife approved. I would prefer not replacing the exhaust, but the drone on the highway is a little louder than I would like. I do love the pep that the Tuning kit gives the car.

I am extremely happy with the 2009 JCW exhaust set up that I posted above. Great looks and power with less noise!
