Is this car a JCW GP or just JCW components?

There is this mini for sale nearby and the dealer obviously doesn't know MINIs. How can i tell if this is a JCW factory car (GP?) or some installed JCW components?

Nothing JCW(or turbocharged) about that MINI except the wheels.

Form the photos I see an aftermarket rear adjustable sway bar,Brembo front BBK,Aero Kit,clear arch lights and the exhaust is either a JCW or an aftermarket setup but definately not stock.

This dealer/writer has no idea what he's talking about! Firstly, he posts "its Turbo", but it's a clearly a 2006 i.e. supercharger, and right there I lose faith in this dealership. Yet, I continue to gather facts. There are no pics of the engine but here's what I can tell you from the pics that *are* posted:

2006 MINI Cooper S
JCW Wheels
Factory Aero kit
Brembo Brakes
Chrono Pack
Auto A/C
Aftermarket switch for Rally Lights (One empty spot in toggle panel goes to fog lights.)
Blacked out belt line
Blacked out side scuttles
White aftermarket reflectors in front/rear fender panels
Silverlight front turn signal indicators (i.e. egg yolk killers)
Aftermarket Rear SwayBar - can't tell the brand.


Interpretation: Original owner was at least 1/2 modder. At least cosmetically. May or may not know what they're doing, but this is definately not a JCW MINI. If it were a true JCW there would be emblems on the driver side lower grill (Image #2) and rear bonnet (Image #3). Personally, I would demand photos of or access to the engine compartment.


At 38500 miles KBB says it's worth $15,455 in Excellent condition.

Original owner was certainly a MINI enthusiast. With enough research you could probably track down the owner of this nice ride! (plug: I'll sell you mine w/ 29k on it for 16k!)

it is a pretty clean ride, but not worth what they're asking. FWIW... I have no dog in this hunt.

Wow. Carmax gave me $19k for my '06 with 21k miles in October. KBB = way off if that's dealer retail you quoted

To add my two cents here...

-its not a GP. Those are Thunder blue with Red mirror caps and GP id # on the roof.
-Looks lowered... JCW suspension or afterarket cant tell. need to see the springs..
-VIN shows it is a Nov 2005 build ..reference here.. so it is an 06 model year.-
-Aftermarket sun roof deflector on top..
-Short antenna
-The stereo is the standard stereo not HK.
-Does not have heated seats.. - so probably not the cold weather package.
-Looks like the front cig lighter is missing or not in the socket.

If you provide pics of the engine bay and the underside I could share more..
