JCW DISC??? HELP ID

long time fan 1st time posting ....to make a long story short i bought and 06 jcw ran the vin# with my local mini dealer came up as an S model. the guy said to bring it in and will have one of the tech look at it, so he did..told me that it has everything the works would have (wheeew) but since the vin# shows that its an S not JCW it might needed a "disc" in order for it to run properly, he thinks its holding back like 20-50 hp due to the fact that it had to be "tuned" by the disc... so the service guy looked up the disc which he said would run me around $25 plus $145 for labor ...anyways after a few hours he called me back saying that MINI do not sell just the disc so basically ur screwed theres no way of finding out how many hp my car really has or had it been properly installed. any info or input is greatly appreciated thanks

Sounds to me like you have a dealer installed JCW which is just fine and should have had the flash done. My dealer did a JCW flash (no disc, just download) to my car when I installed JCW injectors for $100.00. Ask them for a JCW flash, they can tell if it's been downloaded, if they still give ya the run around go to a different dealer. Oh, sorry but there's not 20 to 50 horsepower in the flash.....

JCW tune

Mini Tech Here. You only need the disc for the JCW upgrade for 2007 all you need is just a Flash. Ok its a regular cooper S with a upgrade JCW kit.
Do you know if the tunning kit was installed only or is it the big kit with head exhaust etc, brakes etc... Why do think the flash was not done on what grounds did you come to this conclusion?

thanks so much for your input...i have the tuning kit with the exhaust no brakes. the tech told me that the "flash" was not done because when we ran the vin# it did not say its was JCW not sure if i can just base everything on what he said......so when i call up the dealer i just ask for it to be flash? sorry for the noob metality im new at this

no soories, it should be just 1.0 labor for a DME JCW flash. But I bet if a dealer did the JCW tunning kit. They flashed it. But if someone on the outside just installed the Airbox, injectors, and exhaust I would say no. So really your just a normal Copper S with a JCW tunning kit just like me haha. you want a true tune get a RMW tunning By Jan Where do you live @ I see your in southern calif, Look up Jan @ revolution min works. he will tune it on a dyno way better than the JCW.
