Leaving JCW exhaust and removing resonator

Hi all. I'm glad we now have this forum. My question is does anyone have sound clips of your JCW without the resonator but still your JCW exhaust? I like my sound just want it a little louder, since its already a high flow system

You can't really judge by listening to a soundclip online. I heard many and none of them really sounded the same as mine does. It's a bit raspy on cold start ups but still sounds very nice. It's kinda a rasp that you hear from a e46 M3 stock exhaust system at WOT. Other than that, it's quiet when you want it to be and sounds very nice and sporty at WOT. You can always weld the resenator back if you do not like it.

I also thought that the stock JCW exhaust was a little to quiet on my 2006 GP. I installed a Borla Sport and thought it droned too much on the highway due to no backseat or rear insulation in the GP (the Borla was great on my previous 2003 MCS). I then removed the resonator on the stock JCW. The sound was louder but a little too much snap, crackle, and pop (for me) on the throttle lift exhaust burble. I then installed a Milltek exhaust which was louder than the stock JCW, about the same as the JCW with the resonator but deeper, and a little quieter than the Borla Sport. However, many people have liked the JCW without the resonator.

Here are a couple links to past posts on the subject.

I had also de-resonatored mine but was too much snap crackle pop for me so I welded back the resonator.

I have a JCW system and RMW header - it is much louder now. I love how it sounds! Didn't think there would be such a huge difference in sound.

Mine's on the way, can't wait to hear it with the header! How was the power increase??

The power increase you'd swear was at least 10 HP from the Ass dyno, but I don't have any real numbers to substantiate this. It is my favorite mod to date (the RMW street header w/ high flow cat). I am not gonna take out my resonater because I think it would be too loud with the RMW header, but I have the minispeed.net kit to delete the resonater easily if anyone wants to buy it it is still in the box and I'll let it go cheap, make me an offer.
