Seat question - Airbag light?

I am considering changing my driver's seat for a race seat when I go lapping, or for for some Solo events. I am assuming that the Airbag lamp will go on, but my concern is that when I re-install the factory seat, will I have to re-set the airbag lamp, or will the car be able to do it for itself?

Any thoughts?

Airbag light must be reset by the dealer.

Oh, that really blows.

None of the aftermarket diagnostic tools will work?

And, I assume that if the airbag light is on, the airbags will not work?

Get the same connector that is on the air bag harness on the seat. Solder a 3.9 ohm resistor to the pins. When you install the race seat, plug in the 'jumper'. When you're done with the race seat, remove the seat, unplug the 'jumper', install the factory seat and plug in the stock harness. If you do this with the car turned off, you shouldn't trip the SRS light.

I agree with nparker, this is what we do for aftermarket seats,

however in our race cars, we disable the airbags for the races.

this thread is very old with some bad info, dealer only? Hah right

you can code out the R53 seat airbags with ista/p

you can disable the seat sensor in 06's with ncs expert

you can clear the warning lights with ista/d
