"GP" Font?

I'm trying to get some decals made and was hoping someone knew what Font was used on the GP? I contacted Mike at Aesthetic Creations and was told that he'd need a font in order to make it happen. I've looked, but can't seem to find quite what I'm looking for

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you got Photoshop 7, CS or CS2?

... If so it's pretty easy.

Create a document, and add the text you want. Go to the Layers pull-down and select "Layer Style." Under that menu pick "Stroke." Set the width you want for the outline and specify "Center." Hit Ok.

When you come back to the main menu, on the layers window set the fill for the text at 0%.

Flatten the image (if necessary) and you're done.

Found a way to get the outline (amazingly enough it was format + font + outline ) Now the problem is that the lines are too thin

I've got an e-mail in to Twisty Bits and will e-mail Mike again tomorrow to see if there's anything he can do

Thanks again

Can you produce new "GP" letters - the ones that go in the hood scoop? Same size/shape/color etc, so they can be fitted on the JCW carbon fiber scoop?
From MINI you can only buy a complete hood scoop insert with the "GP" letters printed onto and part of a matt black piece that sits in the scoop (and would of course cover half the carbon fiber!)

Ian,
I'm looking into a "DB" decal to go in the same spot. Any chance you could provide a size?

Need some pics to work from. I can produce that...if I can get a few people interested. A one-off would cost $??

I think the font would be the same Eurostile, just a larger size for the Scoop.

EDIT: Found one of Dave's pics in the GP Decal Question thread

Oh yeah, and here's a link to where Dave posted the pics: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=77261

The standard Eurostile font only gives you this:

The GP font was "invented" and created for the GP...so...you have to draw it. Too make a whole font ( all letters) to match is a project. I've redrawn the G and P..so I have that. The numbers are no problem as the standard Eurostile numbers are fine.

That said...anything created that does not have the letters G and P...is a project.

As far as M$ Word goes, I went Bold/Italic/Outline and it was close

What's the best file format for you to work with btw? JPEG or Illustrator?

We've solved DB's issue and I've sent him the files he needs to make the decals. That said...should I make a shirt with the GP badge above?

Still waiting for my GP car art, but I think the BADGE itself would make a fine shirt..

Yeah, I'd say it's "Solved"

What do y'all think? I like the GP-esque look, yet it's not a direct "knock-off"

Now I just have to decide if black or anthracite would look better

Thanks to everyone for their help and input

Those letters are smaller than the GP ones.

I'll definitely get some pics - I'd love to get proper "GP" so I can buy the carbon fiber. Someone on eBay claims to sell them but they're wrong - I'll chat at the GP owners forum to see if there's more interest, but I'll bite, even for just a couple of them.

Yeah Ian, I noticed that mine are smaller, but to be honest, I think it works (for a non-GP) I think this makes it a bit more apparent that I'm not trying to "Copy" the GP, but more that I like the look of the numbers, etc.

Once again I have to thank DVLMINI and CoolJam Jar for all of their help
