I am thinking of buying a new 07 Mini S and mod it.

Has anyone modded theirs yet with bolt ons, boost controller, bigger turbos? etc?

oh my bad as i sold my 04 loaded with parts 6 mths ago and havent been following the new model to come out. Got myself a 07 997tt with mods up to 600hp and now looking to get back in a Mini for a daily driver. It would be cool if we can make 300hp in that lil beast!

Yea i really missed my Mini as I did a **** load of work to it and it made 215whp. (do a search on my old car...)

Yea i love my 997tt as it is a freaking beast now just made 520 to the wheels when i dyno'd it last week. Diff car so no point to even compare the two.

GOnna stop by the dealer this week and find out details...

I talked to someone at Bob Smith Mini (Calabasas) today and they said 'come on in and order one'.

Yeah... that's kinda what my local dealership sayd, too.

You can put down your deposit and give some initial specs... but the official "order" where they give you a build number, producation week and VIN just isn't hapening. That's what I meant by "order one".

Give 'em a call... and if they say different TELL ME WHERE THEY ARE!!!

Whoaaaa, slow down there Skeezix-- the 07s havent even been out in the UK for a month, and not available here until Feb-March, and you're wondering about mods already? Even after the cars are here, it's still gonna take a year or so for companies to devise and produce R56 mods for consumers. Other than maybe cosmetic stuff, like color-coded arches, even the UK'ers haven't had enough time yet.

Given all the various OEM performance options/buttons (which most of us have little direct knowledge of) and engine software (which BMW is apparently being pretty secretive over) I'd not be getting over anxious about mods until I've had a chance to drive/study it...or risk screwing up a perfectly good car. More news will be forthcoming in the months ahead, no doubt, and we'll know more about just what kind of beast we're dealing with. Watch the tuners abroad...they already are getting cars and will have a jump on introducing useful mods.

My R56 Cooper will probably remain unmodded as is my current R50...save a few simple things. I've managed to re-direct my nervous energy into other endeavors, thankfully...so I'm in no rush.

Has anyone seen any discussion of what kind of horsepower the new turbo might be capable of with reasonable mods?

The only thing I've heard so far is H&R has a set of springs out available for the European production models....th U.S. models should be the same.

H&R model # 29090-1, lowers front and rear 30mm

YAY!!! That was one of the first "must do" mods as the R56 seems to be riding a little high as stock.

Is that pic your photoshop work? Or from an H&R ad for the springs? It looks perfect!

Wow that is a huge turbo for twins. You sure he wasn't running a GT3082r? If he was really running twin GT3582r.... That would deffinately be a lag monster.
