Bonnet Stripes - Over Clear Bra or Under?

Looking for some opinions here. Both make sense to me, for different reasons...

I would put bonnet stripes OVER the clear bra

that way if you ever want to change your $60 stripes you don't have to scrap $200 worth of clearbra in the process (and then decide whether or not you want to have more clear bra reinstalled).

Exactly what I have too...

It does not look weird. The clearbra is not that thick and that way, I can get my bonnet stripes changed.

I TOTALLY agree. Besides, unless you are absolutely looking for a line when installing stripes over a ClearBra, you won't even notice them.

I agree, I had my clear bra installed immediately and then I decided that I wanted to changed my stripes. So, this time around I will install the clear bra before I replace the stripes.

stripes over bra

I researched this extensively a couple months back. Most installers encourage stripes 1st. Most enthusiasts who end up paying the installers suggest bra 1st. So I went with the enthusiasts and what do you know, 4 weeks after install the dealer installed a new wind shield and got some solvent on one of my new stripes. My bra cost 460 installed, new stripe was 40. Yes the dealer has to pay either way but it illustrates a point stripes are cheap bra isn't. Apart from money you may want to change the look by changing stripes, you wouldn't even consider that if they were under the bra, so its liberating to retain that freedom of choice.

Other consideration is that where the one goes over the other then for the width of the transistion the step up of either material wont be a 90 deg angle it will lift a little. lift of bra over stripe as its transparent will likely show more than tape over bra. When stripes are over then that step over length is for the width of the stripes about 5 inches an piece (total 10"), when stripes under bra, the bra has step over for the length of the stripe under the bra, thats about 18 x 4 total 72". My gallery has some hi def images you can zoom in on it looks pretty good, yes you can see line up close but I think it'll be less obvious than when the stripes under.

Neither

Install the bonnet stripes first. When the bra is installed, do NOT cover the stripes. Cut the bra and install it flush with the stripes. This gives a very nice look.

That sounds like a lot of extra seams to me. I get what you're saying, I just don't know if I like how it would look!

If your installer is good you can not see the seems. You can barely feel them. It looks great.
