What is the difference between Carbon fiber and Carbon fiber look?

Hello

Yup
I know my question is really obvious and can be answered : 'well carbon fiber look isn't a real carbon fiber'

but that is not waht I am asking here!

Here I go with my story..

I've bought a carbon fiber hood scoop from someone recently and when I asked him about the manufacture of the scoop, the seller mentioned 'BFP'. Very high quality carbon fiber manufacture.

Well yesterday, I've received my scoop and guess what, it just doesn't look like any carbon fiber made by BFP.. I was informed that it is only Resin coated( ??? ) . I've got the scoop, felt it all around and was kinda of disappointed. So to make this better, I clear coated and installed on my car.

The fit and finish just sucked. difference in gaps, gaps, gaps gaps gaps everywhere.

I am pretty positive that it is a real carbon fiber but just curious now. It is fairly light compare to my original scoop, it is really flexible, before I clear coated, I could feel the thread(??)

How do you know if it's real or not?

and also, how do I make it 'Mirror' like ?? Mine is just plain flat looking..

Thank you for reading..!! my english sucks.

At that price it is probably real carbon. A fake one would be like 30 bucks brand new. With real carbon fiber you can see the weave in there, things that are carbon-look are just painted black and grey checkered.

Real...

Fake...

lol it's probably only carbon fiber wrapped looks like the guy did it himself too. your suppost to apply 3 layers of epoxy with alot of sanding&wet-sanding and then finish with a layer of clear coat.

i believe BFP will take any returns and send you a new one if you are unhappy with their CF

CF is always going to fit crappy, its the nature of the beast.
