My car smells!

I got the Wet Okole seat covers (pics to follow, soon) and they are great, but now my car smells like wet suit. Anyone come up with a good solution when they got their Wet Okole's?

Thanks!

Buy about a dozen of those nauseating vanilla air fresheners, and hang them from your rearview. Also, work a daily stop at Taco Bell into your routine.

Hammer, how long have the Okoles been on the seats? I suggest keeping the windows down a lot when you are motoring, for a few weeks, at least. I would burn some incense and/or get one of the pine-smelling air freshener things that you can hang from the rearview mirror.

Good luck!

newspaper

If you like smell of newspapers, just leave few stacks of newspapers in your car. It will get rid of any smell quick but leave you with smell of fresh (?) smell of newspapers..

or...
1. Take a lab to a lake.
2. Throw any object into said lake.
3. Three hours (about the time it takes to get the lab out of said lake) later place one wet lab in car.
4. Go for long drive, with wet lab in car.

some coffee beans under the seats work great too if you like coffee.
if you're into artificial smells, fabreze.
how about taking those covers off and letting it sit under sun for a while.
it probably smells because it's humid and might be a sign of mold forming somewhere.

The wet okoles are new plastics, so they will offgas VOCs for a while. Not much you can do about it, other than trying to speed it up by circulating air as much as possible - open windows, etc. You might try open boxes of baking soda, but I doubt that baking soda would be able to keep up with new neoprene or whatever the seat covers are made out of. There are also small air purifiers that plug into the lighter socket which some people swear make a huge difference. Just remember that you're dealing with organic fumes, not particulates, so a HEPA or something similar won't be of any use.

You might also try contacting the Wet Okole folks to see what they suggest. Surely they've gotten the question more times than they can remember.
