what exactly does the rear extention piece look like underneath? it looks like to could be a good base for a flush sub box......

Gaps

2" and 1" gaps sound like a lot of clearance?
doesn't the front portion fit tighter than that?

I think it will be OK if farting is done in moderation. Otherwise, it may void your warrantee.

The clearance is only on the sides, and a little at the back. It's for ease getting it in to your boot area without scratching your interior. It slides in from the rear perfectly, and allows some flex room on each side. It has cutouts to fit over your factory jack as well. The front side is flush with the RSD.

Gaps

Sorry, looking at my handy ruler and 2" is too much gap. Appears to be about right for items to lodge, roll into or worse catch a dog's foot which is a good portion of my use. I would rather have to use extra caution during installion to achieve the fit and asthetics of virtually no gap.
Does the original RSD have such a gap also?
Thanks for the reply

More CF fun

I was looking for a way to spruce up the look of the RSD and had some CF laying around so I made a cover plate. I can lift it out if I want to take some tires to the track or other things like that but for everyday use and shows .etc. It sits in there real nice .

Is there enough room for you to fit a nitrous bottle under the rear seat delete kit for you can't see it?

This is in no way an advertisement so I hope the mods leave it. I'm just asking if it's a product you guys want for your Mini.

I own an '05 S for a daily driver but also currently run www.rearseatdelete.com which is dedicated to, you guessed it... rear seat deletes. It's Mustang specific now but if there is interest here, maybe I'll develop a design for the Cooper and then purchase some advertising space on NAM to sell them.

It does render your rear seat useless but you gain some storage space, and stop messing up those rear seats with hauling gear, and drop about 35-40 lbs for racing depending on how the design turns out.

I've already pulled the rear seat components and weighed them and checked out a potential design. We use black ABS Plastic covered in either carpet or vinyl to match the interior. I'd estimate cost at $89 to $169 depending on the severity of the build.

So is anyone interested?

I'm interested for my 2011 Cooper Base, is this thread still alive?

He's got a kit on his website that runs about $220 delivered (atleast from Gastonia to apex). That's the kit w/o grommets.
