Gas Cap Removal

Has anyone figured out how to pop the cover off of the gas door?
There is a hole on the bottom and a tab at about 1:00, but my poking and prying didn't create any movement. I didn't want to break anything if someone knew the secret.

I tried this video showing the clip that must be depressed and the cap rotates then pulls off but that did not work for me. I wound up breaking the clip but I was able to reattach with 3M double sided tape after painting. No problems yet.

Sorry. Didn't catch this was for a Gen 3 until after I posted. I wonder if it might be the same???

I found that video too and DID get it to work.

The trick was to bend the tab way out and twist clockwise (looking at the inside of the cap).

Thanks for the reply.

Follow on from this, I did remove the cap and tried to Vinyl wrap it. Wondering if it is even possible as I am bad at that kind of endeavor and it had many wrinkles and bubbles. Can it be done? Or has anyone painted it reasonably well?

I do have a can of Plastidip which is not my preferred method.

I also ordered on of those black covers that they sell online, had a laugh when I saw what $40 bought and immediately sent it back. That thing is worth $.50 at best and no way was I going to put it on my car.

I saw this
on how to wrap MINI mirrors. It might work for the gas cap as well.

I attempted to do a CF mirror wrap before I saw this and it did not go well at all. I have a plastic barrel and will attempt again when I purchase some more CF wrap and see how it goes.

Thanks for the video, good technique in the hands of a skilled wrapper. I tried that last night and was 90% done until the Vinyl tore, more like snapped. Too frustrating so I gave up once again. Chrome cap for now.
