Exhaust tips silly question :)

I have a June 2014 cooper S. It came with stainless steel exhaust tips.
One thing that has irritated me every time I detail it is that the tips don't extend at the same level. One is slightly off, further in, than the other.

Questions:

1. Are the tips welded to the exhaust on an S or is it possible to adjust them?

2. If not welded, are there other options for exhaust tips that would look nicer and that would be easy to swap? I'd be looking in the chrome/shiny metal for ours, not the carbon look ones?

Thx! Greg

I know on my R55 there is a set screw for each tip, I have not seen the tips on the new car that closely yet. I would bet that they can be adjusted slightly.

In case you haven't gotten it yet... There is a set screw on the underside of each tip. They are hex. I'm not sure of the size so you'll have to look. Take the screw out completely and pull the tip off. Wiggle it if it's snug.

Thank U

No I have not tried since it's been a bit cold and I've been so swamped between work and the holiday... I don't particularly like December! . . .

I'm going to try for sure though since it does drive me crazy when I clean the car

I'm also investigating changing the tips to something a little more refined, slightly larger, and better quality but I'm not sure yet...

You can always paint them... I used Rust-Oleum Engine Enamel (Black Gloss). They turned out really well.

Second that. I'm a huge fan of black tips on these cars. Blends in with the surrounding black trim for a clean look

I actually used plastidip as I wasnt sure if I would like it or not. Its surprisingly holding up remarkably well.
