Where to pick up 12v ignition in engine compartment

Hello all, I am trying to find a 12volts switched ignition source in the engine compartment for the power source on my LED fog lights (parking light and not the actual fog light).

Cant see to find one.

Cheers!

You can tap the DME connector.

It is the #2 pin on the X60004 plug (red with white strip IIRC). The third connector closest to the radiator.

The connector is under this cover.

WARNING: Tapping into this connector is at you're own risk and is not for the faint of heart.

Thanks I'll take a look, other option is doing the add a circuit to the fuse box to the right.

I saw some posts on that.

Cheers!

So I decided to tap off a fuse in the fuse box with the add-a fuse, any suggestions on which fuse is better to tap off of?

Thanks all!

you know, your safest bet is to use a relay and then you have no worries about the load added to an existing circuit ...

get your 'full power' by running a line from the fuse panel 'hot in' cable, thru an inline fuse to a relay ... then power out from the relay to your added goodie. Get the power for the switch side from a switched circuit via the add-a-circuit or just tapping something simple line the cig' lighter / aux power port.

basically this:

led should not draw much power but this isolates the new load . . .

Thanks, I am just looking for a switched 12v source, LED light has a relay incorporated. F2 is the headlight washer which I do not have. I will check to see if there is power.

Cheers!

Has anyone had an issue using the add a tap and not being able to get a switched 12V source?

I verified that the radio did not have power after removing the fuse. But, when I add the add a fuse, the added circuit always has power even with no key in the ignition.

Very strange, all fuses behave the same way and I have tried another add a fuse.

Anyone know what the blue connector is on the left of the fuses in the attached photo? I maybe able to find a switched 12v there.

Any help would be great!

Cheers!
