Looking for this for a while myself. One thing I found out was to remove the grill itself you need to drop the bumper. Looking forward to seeing if just the chrome can be removed.

Remove the bumper - its the only way to get it off without breaking it.

Does anyone have pics of this after it's been blacked out? Would like to see the end result.

I went to my Local Dealer and ordered a replacement ring and painted it with Plastic Krylon Paint. You can get the ring off without taking the bumper off, but you are going to break some clips. I was nt too concerned because I a new one. Here is the results.

How did you remove the trim without removing the bumper? Do you just pull/pry it off or do you have to push any clips from the back side of the grill?

Looks clean. Its possible but a bit of a pain to remove. you have to remove the cover on top of the radiator but yes, props to you if you only break one clip. My tech at our shop gave me the instructions from MINI but it recommends dismounting the bumper.

Wow, that looks great. Exactly what I'm looking to do. What a pain that MINI made this part such a chore. You would think that since they sell black out options of most everything else on the exterior they would get that people don't want that huge gaping chrome lipstick on the car!

I am surprised no one in the after-market has come out with a Piano Black version of this grill ring... I would think it would sell like hot cakes!

I just had mine wrapped in the carbon fiber look and my installer and I broke quite a few of the clips while removing it. So I ordered a replacement ring, will have it wrapped and then install the new one with all the clips. OCD!! The current one looks awesome put I know that all the clips are not engaged, so it will drive me nuts.

Did they not remove the bumper to get the grill off??

If I had the means of doing it I would be making them, hell I can't even get anyone local to do mine in vinyl or paint it. All said that they weren't interested. I was like really? You don't want money??? WTF!!

Seriously. C'mon ECSTuning! You offer 20+ variations of the Audi A3 8P grille but nothing for the F56??

Yea, lots of options for the audi side, nothing yet for the F56. Hopefully in the near future. Sign up on our site under the model and you will get an email when something comes out.

Most people are using the 3m and wrapping it.

I ordered mine here. Sounds like it may take month to arrive though.
