Scangauge II vs PLX DM-100

Hi guys. So I Seafoamed my MCS about 2 weeks ago and on the 3rd treatment the car threw a CEL most likely from the o2 sensor. Apparently the CEL would go away on its own after a while according to other members but it still has not. So I was thinking of buying an OBDII scanner just to clear it but for a bit more I can get the ScangaugeII or the PLX DM-100 and have other useful data readouts. I live in California btw, where Autozones, Kragens etc. no longer check or clear CEL's.

Does anyone have any info regarding the Scangauge vs the PLX DM-100? Are both of them simply plug-and-play through the OBDII? Thanks!

Check advance auto parts for coupons, they usually have good ones, I got a good deal on the SGII for 119.00 shipped a while back, it is plug and play.

I got a SGII. The addition of oil temp is really nice for Minis.

The PLX got crummy reviews due to screen issues.. which is a shame since I like its form factor better (would blend in better).

Thanks guys. I saw that the scangauge2 measures boost? Or is it just MAP reading? Or is boost and MAP the same?

Pretty much the same. Frankly it's too slow to update for real boost numbers.

Coolant, volts, oil temps, and IAT are what I monitor with mine.

Thanks again guys. I just bit the bullet and ordered the PLX and a Alta single gauge pod. Combined, it was still cheaper than if I ordered the ScangaugeII with that Craven scangauge mount. I'll post my thoughts about it if anyone is interested.

I'm wanting to know if the plx drains the battery even if the car is off. I know some odb2 gauges have issues with that.(Like the ultra guage I believe, and and also the wifi setup to iphone).
Answer my own Q: After more investigating looks like the plx dm100 uses a cigarrette lighter adapter for power thus, i dont think battery drain would be an issue.
