Anyone know what this green plastic bit is for?

Has a picture of a gas pump on it, and loops around some skinny black hose behind the sheet metal. Doesn't seem like the right place for something having to do with the fuel system, though…

The fat end with the gas logo was attached to the side panel trim in the boot.

It's the emergency fuel door release, in case of power loss...a federally mandated thing. It's #13 in this diagram:
