Installing aluminum accelerator and dead pedals?

I just received my aluminum accelerator modual, brake, and dead pedal from a vender on Amazon.com

These did not come with installation instructions so I contacted the vender and got instructions but only for the accelerator, not the dead pedal. The instructions for the accelerator appear to have been downloaded from that high priced MINI Mechanic website where you pay by the day. The instructions refference that the car's CPU may have to be reprogrammed to accept the new accelerator:

When replacing control unit:

- Observe programming/coding.

This is scary. I wonder if this part can even be installed by the user at all ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

I found out that one of the local dealers charges 120.00 to install these pedals which is a bit pricy IMOP. I have yet to hear from the other dealer but I'm sure its the same (although I have a 15% off coupon for them).

I'm sure someone can weigh in. I doubt I'm the first person with a non S R56 that installed the nicer looking R56 S aluminum pedals.

From you r post i am assuming they are OEM R56 pedals. I took a different route and put these on my [see the link]

http://voltageproductsonline.com/pedals.html

The dead pedal just lifts out by prying with a flat head screw driver. the brake and clutch are held on with a rubber boot and just pull off. The gas pedal [in my case] I had to pry the top cover off as it was firmly attached and was destryed in the process. Afterwards I had to drill some pilot holes to insert the nets and bolts. I hope this helped.

No, because you installed a different set of metal pedals but I enjoyed hearing your story and seeing your photo just the same. Those are attractive pedals you bought there. They just look like they would be unconfortable if you were in a situation where you had to drive the car with just socks or bearfoot (that happened to me ~18 years ago, I got my shoes soaked).

I think I'm going to bite the bullet on this one and have the dealer install it for me. My thinking is, if I goof this up I won't be able to drive my car to the dealer to have it done correctly.
