intakes on the sides with the aero kit

just looked at a car with the aero kit and really like the front end. not so much the back or the sides but was wondering if those intake vent things on the sides are functional? do they cool brakes or do anything? i think they look pretty dumb regardless of fuction or not but just curious....

if you have them. great. everyone's got their thing...don't wanna be offensive. i have union jacks on my side scuttles hah

I believe they are just for looks.
