Adding a mechanical boost gauge

Hi all!

Just got my 2010 JCW on Friday, and I'm loving it!

I've been searching through the forums, but I guess I just don't understand how the search engine works - the results are never really what I'm looking for. Even putting things in quotes or using +'s doesn't work. If someone can educate me off line, I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking for a mechanical boost gauge that will complement the three gauge cluster (I have the "relative torque" and "coolant temp" gauges straddling my tach). An a-pillar mount would be fine.

Alternatively, I'd give up the relative torque gauge for a matching boost gauge.

Can someone point me to resources I can look at for coming up with a solution? I've seen references to some "$70 boost gauge install", but can't actually find the reference. There was something from a website called "s-w", but the links are broken.

Also, that Rev2 app for the iphone sounds cool, but I just got the Driod... And, I'm not too keen on an electronic boost gauge. I learned that lesson when overboosting an Eclipse back in the 90's. :-) But, I'd be interested in other apps like that for monitoring engine stats.

Thanks...

/greg

Best way to search NAM is to put something like this into your Google Search Block:

boost gauge site:http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums

"boost gauge" or whatever keyword/s you want.

On my last car, I ordered a Boost Gauge (believe it was 'SW') from JC Whitney @ $29.95 and mounted it in the dash,
it had an internal light (choice of color) that had to be connected to dash lites and a vacuum line that could be plumbed into almost any manifold source.

Worked great.

Thanks Guys...

Wow. What a long winded thread just for a boost gauge. :-)

Still haven't quite found what I'm looking for, but I'll keep at it. When I did this last time around, it was basically a simple "here's your options, pick and choose". I guess there are a lot more options now. Then again, there was a really strict moderator on that list, and he didn't let any noise get posted. Not that I'm sayin' there's a lot of noise here, or anything. Just reminiscing. :-)

Cheers!

/greg

Im a fan of the marshall gauges. My mech. boost gauge looks very close to the factory tach/speedo combo and you can get in on the group buy for ones that are a perfect match if you like too. The reason they get expensive is based on mounting. A lot of mini motorists do not want to drill holes or cut up dashes or pillars. I have the craven speed bracket and cups. Works fantastically. Theres also the problem of a vaccum/boost source for the gauge. You're pretty much stuck puying one of the sandwhich adapters that fit between the Map sensor and the intake manifold and tee off a line.

Best of luck
