Not sure what your doing here? Can you pan back so we can see better. If you look at the M7 Ram Air and the Extreme, they do have a larger opening than stock, so not sure what you are talking about. What IC are you using?

No offense, but it seems a bit mickey-moused to me. (Which is okay if you don't mind the look; it's just not my thing.) Did you basically cut out the bottom edge of the scoop?

+1 on request for pix from other angles so we can have a better look.

Have you checked out DrPhil's article on intakes and diverters? If not, it's worth a look. (I think Voltage has also come out with a larger scoop since that article was written.)

My m7 scoop is great! I think the cut up scoop looks pretty bad. Are you finished with it?

This looks like something I would only *think* of doing after a few Four Loko malt liquor drinks...

FYI- I wouldn't buy the M7 scoop again...

The fiberglass had so much trapped air in it that it kept bubbling under the paint when the body shop put it in the oven to dray. It took 3 attempts to get it looking good, then a couple months later part of the paint on the back flaked off for the same reason : (

I think you had a dud. I have had mine for over 2 years and I have never experienced any problem like that.

I'm sorry, I don't get it. My scoop has an opening 4x that of a stock scoop. And there's no air leak. I'd imagine this mod creates significant leakage problems. It's not just about a large opening, it's about air flow, and getting lots of air through the IC.
That just looks like butchery to me.

Sorry to hear of your experience. Did you contact M7 and ask to have a replacement scoop sent. If you have not, I would ask them to replace it, as you should not have accept poor quality workmanship.

Looks like he's running the Alta version of the DFIC...the instructions tell you to cut the scoop like that.

For everyones information I didn't make this post for something everyone should do, I did it to see if anyone new of any good hood scoops that involved removing that hood brace which blocks the intercooler. But everyone took it the wrong way. I needed to cut mine to fit that alta intercooler and just knoching it made it look worst. I plan on making one and was looking for ideas not to have comments about how terrible it looks. FO

If you want a hood scoop that has a larger opening I may be able to help help you out. This is a scoop I made and ran on my car, with a DFIC IC, until I made a second large mouth scoop I run now. It is about 2+ times larger then a stock scoop. I didn't cut the brace but I did bend it down enough to clear the added depth of the scoops floor.
PM me for more info.
